Nebraska vs Colorado official prediction thread

I think everyone is spending a little too much time worrying about matchups.

IMO, Colorado is not mentally prepared for the Environment they're going to face on Saturday night.

Their 18 year-old LT will be unable to hear his QB for the first time in his life while also facing a relentless and fresh rotatation off the edge.

Their LG transfer from Jackson State has never played in front of road crowd over 26,000 people. And he's going to get hit by Nash or multiple blitz looks all game.

Their center will be making his 4th career start while staring at Nash all game.

Their right guard was at UTEP the last two seasons and has never played a road game in front of more than 39,000 people.

The RT Kahlil Benson is good at pass pro and a transfer from Indianus where he played in 11 road games for the Sploogiers. They were 0-11 in those starts. I won't say that's his fault. But its clear that he doesn't understand success on the road.

I don't think that group has a clue what they're about to experience on Saturday night.

Take the over on Fidone receiving yards. CU showed they can’t cover the shallow to mid throws across the middle so why put that on tape for them. The outside screens to TEs were a smokescreen against UTEP. Rhule is going to pound the run game and TEs early then kill them on the outside later in the game. Run = bigger guys banging on Hunter and middle TE passes with outside deep routes to wear him down.

For whatever reason they swapped their RG and RT. Didn't seem to help against NDSU, maybe they switched them back.

I worry about Hartzog at that field safety and Buford at corner.

Nebraska needs to stay on schedule offensively, Colorado does have guys that can rush the passer.

Nebraska's front on defense has to be what we all think it could be..can't wait till week 8 to peak, gotta do it now.

I honestly don't see how we lose this game. If we had slightly below average QB play last year we would have won. Colorado only had 36 points because the defense spent so much time on the field in the 2nd half. Now that we have a QB that seems like he will play at least above average, I have little concern about this game.

Nebraska 30 Colorado 27

I think this game is a toss-up.

NU 30
CU 33

Special teams screws us over
I'm truly curious how you can get to this conclusion? Are you just guarding yourself from being hurt again, or do you actually feel this way?

I won't lie, this is a part of me that is so battered and beaten from the past decade that I am afraid of a score like that too.

But then I watched last Thursday and this past Saturday and I don't know what from those games makes you think it will end like this. Colorado scored 30 at home against an FCS team. Now they have to go on the road in a hostile environment against a top 20 defense.

Nebraska scored 40 against UTEP. Last year UTEP had a considerably better defense than Colorado, statistically. And I get that this isn't last year and both teams have changed. But again, what did you see last Thursday that makes you think that Colorado's defense is markedly better?

This is a game that Nebraska should control from start to finish. Shadildo, Hunter and Horn will get theirs too and make some big plays that will make it appear closer that it actually is. I imagine that it will look something like we go up 14-0 at the end of the first quarter with them not being able to do anything on offense. Then Hunter or Horn will break free for a big play in the second quarter to make it a one score game - despite us dominating the game, everyone is suddenly a little nervous. Then we rattle off another 10 with them not being able to move the ball much at all to end the half. 24-7 at half. But, they get the ball first and break a big one again early in the third to make it 24-14. Methodically, we respond with an 8 minute drive to go up 31-14. We go into the fourth, Colorado hasn't really done anything on offense outside of 3-4 big plays. They likely will get another late TD too because they won't stop taking shots and we get some younger guys in. The finally is something like 34-24, but the game was never really that close.

I'd be much more worried about Hartzog if we was at corner. I don't mind him at safety. I understand that he got burned on Saturday, but I really do think that had more to do with the pace of UTEP - that pace was truly incredible on that 3 play drive.

And I actually want to see Buford lined up on Hunter. Buford is so physical and I know for a fact that it is his goal to make it as long of a night as he personally can for Hunter. Shade a safety over the top because Hunter is good enough to get by him, but Buford will make him earn it. That leaves Tommi on Horn. If Tommi is the guy that everyone believes he is now, he should be able to hold his own.
