Game Thread Nebraska v USC (Saturday, November 1, 6:30pm NBC)

That’s a majorly flawed USC team that can’t stop the run on defense and has a playcaller that consistently outsmarts himself on offense.

The game. The game was close. Like most of our L's.

Tons of people rooting against Lateef. Guess they're more Dylan fan than Nebraska fan. Disappointing, but not unexpected.

Nobody is rooting against LaTeef. Our fanbase is just stupid.

The Officials cost us at least 14 points in this game. The miss calls were blatant and obvious. The game was very fun besides that. Loved how everyone did the the black out and it look way cool inside the stadiums. Rhule has done way better than Frost and we are bowl eligible which is good for development. I know there are glaring holes in this team but we fight till the end and always have a chance to win. In the frost years it always felt like no matter what we would lose.

Yeah, I definitely whiffed on my prediction the atmosphere would be a flop. Didn't think they could pull it off for a cold weather night. Had a few friends message me about it as well and said it looked good.

Riley and Cally both have had more success than Rhule. Why does Rhule get more than 3 years ?

The same guys that have been making excuses for Raiola's mistakes, all of sudden want to hold Lateef to a different standard.

The kid might not turn out to be great but he came in off the bench as a true freshman in a bad situation in a big game under the lights and did what he could to try and get the win.

Real life isn't always the storybook ending where the guy comes in off the bench and wins the big game.

Not gonna lie, I was really hoping for our Varsity Blues moment with Lateaf playing the role of Johnathan Moxon...

It was just clear that the entire playbook is not available for TJ. Took one deep shot that a USC player made a good play on. Nothing else after that.

Is that Lateef’s fault or the o coordinator afraid to call plays to try and win?

I'm not sold on the OC.

We don't know what we want to be. We are a collection of talent without purpose or identity. I think the Holgerson hire was desperation because he was available, and Satt was clearly not capable. I do think he's helped Raiola as compared to the duck and chuck with Satt, but I sure hope Holgs offense isn't what we WANT to run.

We get weapons on the outside in the portal and we fail to use them. We have an AA level running back and we rarely run the ball twice in a row. We have done a better job of running off schedule this year, but we can't build PA off the ground game. We build our run game off the pass. It doesn't work. Our offense has talent, including our interior OL, but it is full of square pegs and round holes. Our offense has become what our D used to salivate to play against.

A big difference would be the win/loss column. Frost only beat two power 5 teams with a winning record in his entire tenure and that was his first year.

Matt Rhule’s Nebraska team beat a Colorado team that finished last season ranked and beat Cincinnati this year. Those are above average teams. Though, not B1G opponents.

Don’t get it twisted, Matt Rhule is a significant upgrade over Scott Frost.

If the OC thinks the QB sucks and calls plays accordingly, then it’s probably on the QB. They’ve seen Lateef in action probably about a 100x more than any of us. If the coaches thought Lateef was capable of running the offense at the same level as Raiola they wouldn’t have changed how they called the game once Lateef came in. I don’t know how this isn’t obvious to some of you.

If Rhule gets us to the Bo Pelini years with 8-9 wins I will agree. If we continue to be a 5-7 type team it’s not some super improvement. The game management shit is still the biggest similarity between Frost and Rhule.
