So I'm starting to think bringing Ek home was smart.
Two things that I took notice of yesterday with him...

- When our kickoff guy sent it out of bounds he glared at him running off and promptly started walking away to not even speak to him before he got to the sideline displaying his displeasure. I like that he is demanding a standard (I get that works for some players and not others but I'll take a not soft player).

-Secondly, and I think most important, I think it was Q3 he ran up to Rhule and said something and I saw Rhule nod. He took off running back to Jacory Barney to say something. Next punt return Mozee was back there (I think that's who it was). What I think happened was Rhule pulled starters and Ek being a seasoned coach and vet was making sure that also meant on special teams and asking if he should pull Barney, that's when Rhule nodded. Those are the things that need to happen from your coordinators to make it so Rhule can focus on other things such as time management, dealing with the refs, etc.

Lesbe honest…. Akron might be the worst team in FBS. I’m confident at least the top half of FCS teams and probably the top quarter of D2 would beat them.

According to Massey and FPI they are better than the following teams also played by Big Ten Teams this season:

Kent State
Kennesaw State
Middle Tennessee State
Albany
Western Illinois
Ball State
Grambling State

And it should be pointed out that the Massey computer has a metric which ranks all 850+ College Football teams in North America from Ohio State to the worst team in Canada. According to that ranking, Minnesota's FCS opponent yesterday, Northwestern State, is ranked behind 36 D2 teams and 11 NAIA schools, including from the GPAC.

They are quite possibly the worst Big Ten Non Con opponent of all time.
