New Commit Nebraska Signing Day Thread

This baffles the fuck out of me.

IMO perimeter blocking is 90% mindset and give-a-shit factor. These were not small guys and their blocking noticeably improved after DH came onboard.

Satt just wouldn’t or was unable to hold the guys accountable.
The amount of times early in the season that Banks was called for A) Holding B) Block in the Back or C) missed block that would have sprung a big play...I had to stop watching the games. I was screaming too much at the TV.

And you're right, perimeter blocking is a lot like rebounding in basketball. Definitely some technical skill and a level of athleticism needed but really you gotta give a shit.

I think Banks and Neyor played so much because of how much we paid them in NIL. We had to get our money's worth
After watching Neyor in the open NIL practice, I was SHOCKED he wasn't more of a big deal this season. He was open all day during that practice.

I wonder what happened with him, confidence?

Satt probably loved them because they are big kids and he thought they'd be perfect perimeter blockers for behind the LOS passing game. Little did he know they were the absolute worse perimeter blockers in the world.
Makes me think back to guys like Kenny Bell. I don't think he got over 175lbs his entire playing career but he could block his ass off.

It feels like Holgorsen came in and had a look in three weeks and made Rhule finally see he had a bunch of losers on the team. Rhule finally got over this shit of sticking with the losers because they are his kids.
It almost seems like long term it was better for Holgorsen to come in midseason during a bad run. He didn’t have a relationship with any of these guys at all and had no investment in defending anything. And if Rhule was ever going to get it, that bye week was the perfect time to

Satt and McGuire were in love with Neyor and Banks for some reason even though they can't catch a fucking cold. No idea why Lloyd didnt get more looks.
Thought for sure Lloyd was going to pop a few explosives this year after watching the film of Dylan throwing deep balls. And then crickets.

It’s great to see the recruiting ranking in respectable territory, but is there any program in football that has had a bigger delta between its recruiting ranking and ranking ranking than NU?

If we had matched our recruiting ranking at any point post-Pelini this program would look very different.

I'm old enough to remember the "Itty Bitty Committee" of ~1993 with about 5-6 guys who were in the 5'7 - 5'9" and 160-180 lb range, yet the most dominant group of blocking receivers in the nation.
