MMA, I like that!Nebraska actually isn't in a bad place with TE's;
Danny King TE 6-4 245 R-Fr.
Eric Ingwerson TE 6-7 255 R-Fr.
Cayden Echternach TE 6-4 260 So.
Mac Markway TE 6-4 250 So.
Luke Lindenmeyer TE 6-3 250 Jr.
Markway was injured late in Fall Camp but was on track to see serious playing time last season. Would possibly have been the starter. Was a highly rated player out of St. Louis (4*) that went to LSU and then transfered to Nebraska after playing some at LSU.
Both Ecternach and Ingwerson are believed to have a higher ceiling than most fans know, and the staff has commented on this regularly.
And I said all this without even mentioning Carter, nor did I mention that Luke Sorenson, the TE that we got as a commitment was a highly sought after player in the 2026 class:

Sorenson is a high major prospect at the tight end position and is on the short list when talking about the best in-line blocking tight ends in the country. He actually started out at right tackle as a freshman, weighing just 185 pounds before moving to tight end his sophomore year. He has a well built 6-foot-3.5, 250 pound frame with big features including 11” hands and a size 17 shoe. He wasn’t featured a ton in Servite’s passing game as a junior, primarily because the quarterback situation at the school was unsettled but we’ve seen him at multiple events this off-season and he showed the ability to get vertical and win multiple jump ball battles. He’s natural with his hands and knows how to carve out space and use his body to create separation. He has the multi-sport background we love and is young for his grade and will play his entire senior year as a 17 year old. There’s a ton of upside here and we love where his game is trending.
Multi-sport athlete who has participated in basketball, baseball, water polo, and MMA in the past.
Who do I see as productive players? No. I'm not worried about anything NU football related. I'm commenting on how our TE room is thin with only one notable returning player and we got nothing out of the portal. But please enlighten me with you see as productive players besides Lindenmeyer. The fact that HH actually played TE last season should tell you everything you need to know about that TE room.
Cayden Echternach was also playing a decent amount towards the end of the year as more of an H-back type of position. Especially in the red zone.Who do I see as productive players?

Of course all of this is ignoring our refurning, all conference TE whom is being dismissed by people here as “a walk on”.
Idk where I heard it but I thought he was practicing with the edge guys now. Might’ve made that up idkMarkway?
Thank you for confirming lol. Thought I dreamt it or something 😂
Don't think playing defense will solve the knee issue.. or the edge issue but what else we got at this point
and find good edge rushers![]()
Well all conference honorable mention but yes we have one good TE. Sorensen will be a true freshman playing against a lot of older players. Carter has the athleticism and potential to be good. I haven’t heard a peep on Ingwerson except he projected as a better project for OT. Pretty unproven room with some potential in Carter to be a good #2.Who do I see as productive players?

1 TE doesn't solidify the position group. Maybe those others become productive but up until now they have not and are very unproven. In fact so unproven/unreliable that they were beat out by a QB/Turned TE.Who do I see as productive players?

Obvious now why weren’t more aggressive on the portal. So confident in what we have in the room that we converted a TE who is eligible to park in a handicapped spot.Don't think playing defense will solve the knee issue.. or the edge issue but what else we got at this point
I don't know that lineman are prepared to block him when he's firing off the edge on his souped up rascalObvious now why weren’t more aggressive on the portal. So confident in what we have in the room that we converted a TE who is eligible to park in a handicapped spot.
