My area of specialty is the English Civil War, and its impact on the American Revolution. I am also a bit of a nerd on James Madison, US Grant and his campaigns, the Russian Revolution, WW1, and pre-war WW2, as well as WW2. I am also a student of Jewish history.

I peaked at a Gturd game last night. Hopefully he can bring some of their O ideas here. Pretty standard for blocking schemes in the run game. IZ/OZ. His OL created movement. Saw some gap scheme as well. Quite a bit of screen game in the few clips I watched.
Since you seem to be the most nuanced with oline play around here (sincerely and respectfully not trying to be sarcastic) outside of the standard we can’t protect, what was your biggest issue with Raiola in your opinion? Were we fundamentally bad, look like we couldn’t communicate, not able to mesh well with offensive scheme?

You’re gonna be surprised when you learn it’s where the linemen put their thumbs.

Hint: it’s not always up their asses, but it certainly appears that way sometimes.

Some oline coaches are knuckles down blocking

Some are knuckles up blocking

But only Uncle Donny was knuckles deep in your QB blocking

No one thinks that. We all agree he wanted his own DB coach and we oddly drew the line up front about that. As if we’re in a position to think a freshman DB is worth drawing the line over.
I keep reading your posts hoping to glean something insightful.
But man, you’re stupid.

IMO.

#1 - Protections broke down far too often, especially vs DL movement.
#2 - Seemed like they did not create much movement on the inside run game with consistency
#3 - I thought we blocked IZ pretty solid. Duo, solid...after that....pretty meh.
#4 - Dudes getting dog walked back into the QB. People pile on the OL and on Raiola for the sacks this year. It's pretty hard for a QB to trust to step up into the pocket when this is happening. Not excusing DR...but that's hard.
