They don't need a narrative. He goes 7-5 or better he keeps his job for another year where he'd have to do better than 7-5. Neither of which are likely.

He doesn't he gets fired this year or next.

Much more likely the off the field stuff has been put out there at an exaggerated amount (maybe made up entirely) to lower him from his golden boy status for the inevitable firing.
I agree what your saying in a normal situation, but this isn't a normal situation if it comes down to it they are going to fire a Husker hero/legend. So they are going to have to do it in a way that each side doesn't look like the bad guy. For instance if Frost resigns for personal/family issues with some kind of buyout from his contract no looks bad in that situation Frost is taken care of his family and the University didn't have to fire a Husker hero/legend. I don't believe (if true) they would ever use the off the field stuff against him because it would make the University and Frost the husker hero/legend look bad. Most people will know its BS but that way both sides can resolve the situation without too much damage to the other. However bad a coach he is, he's still Scott Frost.

I do not any believe any University would look that bad firing a coach with a record like his...regardless of being a so-called legend. Most Universities would have done it after year 3 IMO. I guess Shula got 4 years at Alabama but he won 10 games in year 3. The overall record was 26-23. Frost has a long way to go get 26 wins.

I only picked Shula b/c he was a former Alabama QB that came back to coach his alma mater.

The white knighting is over the top here. Date him already
I've seen enough from Frost as a coach to think he has serious deficiencies and unfortunately he will most likely go down as the biggest faceplant in NU history. I've also seen enough of your posts to know that there's no reason to take anything you say seriously.

If he was perennially 6-6 to 8-4 I'd agree. 4-8 and 5-7 doesn't require any kind of BS.

I agree that most Universities would, but I don't think that Nebraska, if they can help it, would come out and fire Frost. I think Turd is smart enough to move on from Frost with out actually having to fire him if he can come up with a way for both sides to save face. I don't think Turd wants to add "The guy who fired Scott Frost" to "The guy who got rid of UNO football and wrestling" to his resume if he can help it.

I think many are concerned about the fans who are giving the former star QB extra leash because of who he is. The mindset of many Nebraska Fans is based on tradition and they turn a blind eye to any reality that involves a cherished Nebraska person. The White Knighting that goes on is amazing.

I have friends and family members that think Frost should get 7-8 years to turn this around. Most are older. Keep hearing all the excuses:
-Riley screwed the program over, didn't fit in. One is pissed he drove a Prius, as "No recruit will respect a coach who drives a Prius"
-culture, culture, culture... Not the Nebraska Way
-Scott inherited no talent
-players didn't do Squats
-can't recruit to Nebraska (Hoiberg disproved that)
-Eichorst was a putz (most agree with that, thanks Barry for that recommendation)
-........ just so many excuses for our team not winning. Bottom line is Coaching Matters and good coaches find a way to win. And bad coaches make excuses.

We look like a poorly coached team in our 4th season under this staff and we are not winning on the field. We have enough talent to compete with anyone in the B1G West yet lost to lowly Illinois with a new staff, which got beat the next week at home by the University of Texas-San Antonio. At some point it's either Shit or get off the Pot but some of our fans either don't like change or the thought a Husker Legend could fail at Nebraska. Him walking away with a somewhat plausible story will suffice them even though we all know it is bullshit. He'll get some money, maybe a reduced Buy Out if some of the rumors are true.

If Nebraska goes 5-7 is there anyone in the state that would complain about him getting fired?
The only thing I'd worry about is the narrative outside of Nebraska, which would be "Even their former hero who went undefeated at UCF couldn't make it work!" Which is why I could imagine NU trying to soften it with a "mutual parting of ways with most of his buyout" type of agreement.

God who cares. Just hire a good coach. Plenty of them out there

Just based off of what I read on message boards & other social media, I'd say 30-40% of people would be opposed to firing Frost even if we have a losing season in 2021. People would lose their shit.
