Many moons ago a buddy and I flew out the CA to help move my sister and her husband back to Nebraska to start his Oral Surgery career here. I called my sister to let her know the flight was booked and asked her how far she was from LAX and her response was, "What time does your flight arrive?"
"Hey, sis - that's not what I asked you. How FAR from LAX are you?"
"Well, if you land at this time, I'm 20 minutes away. If you land at this time, I'm and hour and a half, perhaps as long as two hours away due to traffic. Now, what time does your flight arrive, dumbass?"

That's when I knew ... Toto and I weren't in Kansas anymore.
It has taken me most of my adult life to grasp the idea of measuring travel by time instead of miles.

Orange County friend: “It takes 90 minutes to get there”.

Me: “Yeah, but how far is it?? How many miles??”

Friend: “Doesn’t matter. It’s 90 minutes. Unless it’s a Friday afternoon. Then it’s two hours. Unless it’s EARLY Friday afternoon. Then it’s an hour fifty”.

Me: “So, yore not gonna tell me how far it is”.

Friend: “I have no clue. Now will you stfu......”

Me: “sigh.....”

Did a bucket list item today. I’ve always wanted to fish the Kenai river over winter and I usually can’t because of basketball.

Good news: I didn’t fall in which normally happens although, to be fair, I tend to drink a lot while fly fishing.

Bad news: waders still froze and I had to sit in a heated car for ten minutes so I could take the boots off.

Just gorgeous country, and I'm soooo glad you're not mixed in with bits of frozen wader compound in some bear scat this fine morning. Congrats on the experience and hitting a bucket list item.

@Woodrow F Call you think its dumb to pay 350 per pair 6 months, good grass good water good fence
$350 is enough, but you damn sure wouldn't be the only guy paying that, as I have a few buddies that pay that for full season pair grass in the flint hills.

Do they provide care, fix the water gaps/fence when need be throughout the season? That's all included with their rent. That makes a big difference

they take care of the spraying, we upkeep the fence. not a big deal to me. im going down to look today. most pastures around here are 5 month & i live in corn country so not much opportunity around. im sure its the same everywhere.

really when you break it down it's $1.91 a day for half of the year to feed a cow and calf (without mineral). i would bet a guy can't feed em at home every day for that price.

Very far from home?
