I'm not seeing the magic word (ding!), so it's a better day ... but not a GREAT day! Thanks bronie. Today has started off/going much better
The first thing that popped in my head as I read your post was the Paul Harvey essay So God made a Farmer that Dodge Ram made famous as a Super Bowl commercial. When i read stuff like this it truly is a miracle that Nebraskans have the longest life expectancy in the USA although Hawaii might have nudged us into second place. I hope things improve but you're a living example of the Pioneer spirit. Cholera, Indians, floods OK, but we're still going to Oregon.Yesterday morning, wake up to -29 actual.
Start morning cattle feeding at 5:30. First load, flow gate wont open on feed truck. Spent 45 minutes cleaning contact points on joystick. Finish morning feeding at 10.
10:15 get the float free and valve flowing on a mirafount water that partially froze up. Get the rest of the waters checked, last one (a Ritchie) is froze up. This one has never froze in the 15 years it's been on the place.
After 4 hrs of cussing and frozen to the bone, I give up at decide it's time to haul water to that pen. It's an amazing 1 degree by this point.
after evening feeding get home, change and hit the road for kansas city (wife has appointment at ku med today)Get to the legends area about 8, go in to eat supper (first meal all day) go to leave, all but flat tire on tits Lincoln. Gas station half mile away, air compressor out of order.
Got to change over to the spare in a balmy -2 temp.
Get to our hotel downtown, fire trucks out front, lobby full of firemen. Water main busted, no estimated time of repair.
Finally got checked into a different hotel at 11 last night. Wife's at her appointments alone while I wait to get this tire fixed.
how was your Tuesday Deab Negro?
Bump broke the “pin”.Bump
Fixed!Bump broke the “pin”.
Somehow, I’m not seeing Mrs. LHR spending a Scottsbluff weekend In that contraption when 50’ away is our newly remodeled basement where she would sleep in the lap of luxury.Since its a shyte posting thread, I thought I'd share my latest 11:42 p.m. purchase with the posse: A BedRug bed liner for the new-to-me Ram pickup:

I was contemplating a number of truck bed solutions, including doing my own spray lining (honestly, it doesn't look that hard and I continue to search for ways to justify my honking air compressor purchase) vs. having Line-X overcharge me for theirs. I've already put on a TruXedo roll-up tonneau cover, so this should make for a comfy place to haul things on road trips, etc.
I'm also desperately trying to convince Mrs. LHR that we need to do some adventure camping to justify the acquisition of one of those Napier Backroadz tents, which may or may not be used on future hunting trips or just camping out in @Elizabeth Reed's driveway until the Sheriff hauls me away. Anybody have anything like this or do any adventure camping with their trucks/Jeeps, etc.?

It's true. Her sense of adventure ain't what it used to be, and we're both dying to see that brand new 75" TV of yours. You DID buy the new 75" TV, didn't you?Somehow, I’m not seeing Mrs. LHR spending a Scottsbluff weekend In that contraption when 50’ away is our newly remodeled basement where she would sleep in the lap of luxury.
Just sayin’......
.
I always get a Bed Rug whenever I get a new truck. Sometimes, if I stay with the same manufacture, I just pull it out before I trade it in and lay it down in the new one. However, I haven't tried the whole truck tent camping scene yet.Since its a shyte posting thread, I thought I'd share my latest 11:42 p.m. purchase with the posse: A BedRug bed liner for the new-to-me Ram pickup:

Great to know. I really couldn't find any negative reviews on them sans "I wish it came with more velcro strips". OK. It's a shame you can't find those on Amazon or anyplace else.I always get a Bed Rug whenever I get a new truck. A little automotive news on my end. My wife aka the Little Old Lady from Pasadena, was finally willing to give up her 20 year old Audi A6 4.2l V-8 since the repairs and fuel costs were beginning to match the cost of tuition at a good school. Searching for something suitable for her need for speed and found a unicorn. 2017 BMW 330i executive fleet lease return with 7k miles. In BMW years it's still in diapers. A very sweet ride.Since its a shyte posting thread, I thought I'd share my latest 11:42 p.m. purchase with the posse: A BedRug bed liner for the new-to-me Ram pickup:

In case you need some more convincing, here are some more pics of the same girl as my avatar. lolGreat to know. I really couldn't find any negative reviews on them sans "I wish it came with more velcro strips". OK. It's a shame you can't find those on Amazon or anyplace else.
Also, your avatar is distracting AF. Mrs. LHR is outta town and damn if that pose doesn't look really appealing right now. I'm not sure if I have the discipline to "edge" until she returns on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Good for you, man. Still in Alaska or spreading the net beyond? Best of luck on your search! After 11 years at my job I figured it might be time to test the waters. I haven't resigned but I got a couple of hot leads on some jobs in more desirable locations. I won't know anything until mid to late March but send some positive thoughts my way.
Still in Alaska but to places with more resources. Admittedly my area got hit pretty hard with covid but we are also leading the nation, or at least we were, in terms of vaccinations. I've been basically on lockdown since July and morale is at an all time low. They are finally allowing kids back in the building so that should help boost things. I'm pretty reasonable on a lot of the restrictions but the local BIA hospital is running things and they are going for 0 cases so their recommendations fall in line with that. Unfortunately the mayor is the partner of the chief of staff so the town and school district follow the recommendations to a T. All of this is basically a long winded rant that I want to live somewhere with more options so that the highlight of my summer isn't my gardening.Good for you, man. Job A: One of the locations is Kodiak Island. I actually feel pretty confident that I would get this job but I wouldn't be able to coach basketball in a paid role for a few years. Their head coach is a local guy and maybe 50. Kodiak is drop dead gorgeous and I'd be able to fly fish every day from basically March until December. It's about as expensive as my current location but the teacher pay is less.
Job B: This school is newer and is a combined 6-12 which I really like. It's about 10 minutes outside of Wasilla. The pay is actually pretty close and the cost of living is dramatically less. It's within 440 minutes of Anchorage and all my favorite streams are within an hour. They also have a varsity job open and their admin contacted me since my team normally beats the crap out of them. This is the job I want but it's a huge district and the job has to make it out of district. A lot of times these jobs are filled by people moving from one school to another. If this job isn't open then I don't really want to move to the district. I'd rather just stay where I'm at and test the waters again next year.
