Meh. That's what Turd and a bunch of other people in the athletic department get paid for. Cry me a river.

If you let them run the show they will. You hire the right coach and worst case scenario they whine for a couple of years and hold onto their money until Nebraska is winning again. Winning cures all.

If you hire the wrong coach then it doesn't matter. You get fired and life goes on.

Peeds now have money locked up into the NIL company so they're hardly worth the thought. Especially since you already have a seperate NIL company going.

Turd is in a difficult position because as an AD he gets one or at best two hires for football coach. He gets paid 800k per year with up to 580k per year in bonuses.

Anything coming from boosters right now is just noise unless he lets it be something bigger.

Agreed, but you need the NIL cash to compete. So it’s damned if you do and damned if you don’t. The TC needs to let Turd do his job and still give the NIL money. Either that or we need to luck our way into a good TC hire (won’t happen).

I think the actions of the Peeds, TO, Davison, Bruning, Pillen, Clare, Gerrod...... has really rubbed some of the boosters wrong in Omaha. They have been turned off by the actions of the TC and have been sitting on their checkbooks. Not sure they will throw the coin around like the Peeds have but they will open it up a bit.

We need a coach who is dynamic enough that he can win over the TC'ers & TO. Much like the problems that Texas has dealt with from their meddling Boosters who have hampered that program. Mack Brown was the only coach that could unite the Texas Boosters and with the Boosters support he succeeded. Even when Riley was winning in his 2nd season the TC'ers weren't supporting the program, actually they were detrimental to our program.

I’m of the opinion we’re in this situation because of a series of shitty decisions over the past 10-15 years made by the people who have the final call to make those decisions and NOT because their hands were tied by evil boosters with big money. The latter there implies that they knew the decision that was being made was bad but still made it anyways.

If Turd Alberts makes a shitty hire it’s going to be because he chose wrong. Not because an 85 year old man with Alzheimer’s rallied his big money people to force a terrible hire onto Turd because they love to watch the program lose and losing is somehow making them money.

I think this is mostly right. Eichorst laying his dick on the table and hiring Riley is a noted example of how weak these nebulous forces are that dictate every decision at the AD level. Granted eichorst dick is probably small, but that's not the point.

Agreed. "Evil TO" is just a weird rabbit hole to go down. I do think he's an elderly, naive, overly loyal guy who is several generations behind the times, and that factors into his opinions when people ask him. Then his rich fat cat coattail riders go play politics and convince themselves they're doing his bidding. But in general this wack booster crap happens at every single program in the country. I think we have an AD with a spine and a head that is screwed on right and a strong vision for NU, and he will keep all of that other stuff in its place.

There are certainly boosters who think they’re the smartest in every room they walk into and think they’re more important than they truly are. Nebraska is not unique in that aspect.

I just simply can’t buy the idea that those people are responsible for on the field failures and decision makers choosing poorly. I think if you paint it that way it’s essentially absolving the appropriate parties of some ownership.
