I’m starting to not totally hate the idea of him getting the job. Don’t get me wrong I’d much rather have Urban, Gundy, Rhule, #2ndChoice, or Aranda as coach, but after those 5? Give me Mickey. Guy is going to be a good head coach somewhere if not here. The fact he has this team in games where we have the worst talent we have ever seen on our OL and defensive side of the ball has been cool to see.

Aranda, Rhule, #2ndChoice, Gundy etc aren’t coming to Lincoln. Oh and the lane train is staying in the sec. It likes the going into the tunnels down there.
The more realistic candidates are mostly bleh.
Leipold is old. Not to sound rude but a 58 year old white guy that has the charisma of a cardboard cutout isn’t getting good recruits to Lincoln. Could get good regional recruits if he wins.

Matt Campbell is too hot and cold. Long run he wouldn’t change the program too much. Maybe a bowl game every 2/3 years.

Bill Obrien — gross. And I don’t like Ireland still.


Mickey is looking more and more like the best option. Bad year to hire a coach.

There seems to be a growing push among former players that’s very pro Mickey for the job — makes me want him less, a little.

Either they just want another former Husker to be a head coach(most likely) or people within the AD are pushing a few players to try and grow a grass roots Mickey campaign as long as the teams wins/shows growth(probably unlikely. They wouldn’t go that low to gain support for him, would they?)

I would just like to point out that our two best players on offense are Trey Palmer and Casey Thompson and the only reason we have those two guys is Mickey Joseph. In terms of overall program contribution he has been the best hire we have made in years.

With the other candidates out there I think Mickey getting the job is becoming more and more likely. For the first time in a while, I think we're seeing coaches wanting to stay and build something where they're at. Aranda doesn't want to leave, plus he's 3-3 and his games are shootouts, I don't want that.

You've reached the point in the season where if it's Mickey, Turd has to say so soon because any advantage of retaining Mickey as the HC is squandered if you don't give him the reigns early enough to go land some recruits and get to work on the portal.
