I watched a way too long in-depth YouTube video about this a year ago. Taylor makes basically every commercial ice cream machine in the US. Taylor and McDonald’s corporate have a long time relationship, think they both might have been founded by friends. McDonald’s corporate forces the franchises to buy the shittiest Taylor machine that can only be serviced by Taylor technicians. The machines also have a self cleaning mode that never works. Rather than paying for the technician or dealing with the cleaning process franchises just say they are broken.
Edit here’s the video with anyone who has 30 minutes to spar

McFlurry’s are trash. They hardly have any stuff in them and they aren’t mixed well. It’s basically a little bit of mix ins at top and a whole lot of vanilla ice cream.
The last good McFlurry they had was the Take 5. That had a bunch of caramel mixed in with the candy bar. It was legit.
Just drive to a small town DQ for a blizzard. Not sure what it is about the small town DQ’s but those ones load the shit out of blizzards. They always have the best ones over the big city DQ’s.
