Editorial Looking Ahead: What Does Rhule Really Have to Build On Going Into Year 4?

Even if we are somehow a little better next year is going to look like a step back. It’s just a matter of how big a step back it is.
Outside of OSU and maybe Oregon & Washington we have no idea what these teams are going to look like.

Feels like that's actually the norm today.

Sounds like it is all but done
Ok. So this seems to be the last straw for a HC who has been here all of 3 years and gotten us to back to back bowl games for the first time in over a decade.

I think the difficult thing for people (Husker fans) to come to terms with is who we really are as a football program. I know it's a tough pill to swallow but we are a "has been" and have been for the better part of 20 years.

This was never going to be a quick fix. I'm not necessarily happy with where we are...especially looking at what we have coming back in 26 and the schedule on the docket. But I really don't believe that forging a new course with an entire new staff is the way forward at this point.

I also don't believe that it does the program any favors to have fans quit now! If next year turns out to be what most think it will, then we probably need to take a hard look at the direction of the program and the man at the helm. Until then, the best we can do as a fan base is get behind this years team and do our part to help them find success.

I am sorry, I get this is a big accomplishment....... but the failures of other coaches doesn't make this some resounding accomplishment.

Somebody needs to tell the person who writes the checks this.

See this lost its standing with me........

The easy answer to this is look at Indiana.

But I will say, I was fine with the building it the long way. My problems came in week 1 vs Minnesota where we saw coaching incompetence. Stuff that was not related to get better players, but simple strategy of the game was failing.

You can get better players, but if you can't manage a game it doesn't matter.
