Breaking Logan Smothers

I don't know if anyone has an update, the press reported in early may he was still recovering and hadn't resumed throwing, and someone told me very recently he was 2, maybe 3 months away from being cleared to throw.

He wouldn't have helped much even if he stayed - he may have missed a good chunk of pre-season practice.

So none of them transferred to places like

Alabama
Georgia
Ohio St.

Okay....
Remember when Frost & Harry Potter were getting hyped as QB gurus? Gawd did they turn out to be utter trash.

It’s bad when Martinez is miles ahead as ur best QB.
McCaffrey->bust
Smothers->bust
Torres->bust
Haarberg->zero throwing skills

Not sure we have really had many players that transferred up since the Portal was a thing. Shows how poor player development & talent evaluation was. These are the only players I can think of that were lateral or moves up. Who am I missing?

-2 DT's ( Rogers & Riley) to Oregon, and started
-Hausmann to Michigan
-Allen to Miami probably a bit of a step up
- Brown to Michigan St but that program is on a downward trend plus he was busted here for cheating on academics.
-Stephon Wynn to Ole Miss, but probably just a depth piece
-Martinez & Warner transferring to Kansas St.
-Garcia-Castaneda & Betts in theory transferred up from Frost to Rhule when they came back

We've had some of the highest attrition in college football over the last 5 seasons but appears that most players that left weren't going to a bigger or better program.

Not sure, but I believe these were Riley recruits:

Avery Roberts/Tyjon Lindsey - Oregon State
Wandale Robinson (Frost recruit)- Kentucky

Forgot about Nixon, definite move up. I liked his film, wish we could have kept him. I can't put Syracuse above us though.
isn't it a lateral? (although I hate to say that...)

Good call. I tried including Transfer Portal in there to limit the players who left immediately when Frost was hired. I think the portal started for the 2019 season. Robinson probably hurt the most out of any transfers. At the time Kentucky was on the rise and we were plummeting under Frost.

I have a hard time considering them in the same category as us. Mainly because I have friends who played there that complain all the time about their football program & resources. But since the Portal started they are 18-30 with 7-6 record being their only winning season but they went to a bowl game that year. Very Frost-Like numbers except for the bowl game. Record wise definitely lateral but fan support, conference & resources definitely in our favor.

I only remembered them mostly because my neighbor is from the west coast and is huge Oregon State fan (It's rough to have him talk shit and I couldn't even have a comeback because Oregon State was producing on the field way better than us). I only told him it was only because he could thank us for taking Riley off their hands.

I set up two TVs in the garage, so he could watch their games. Roberts and Lindsey seemed to have a consistent production to their team.

Hopefully, it turns around this year and I can tall some shit finally.

@MtnHusker - I did not know that Alante Brown cheated and got caught. So was he on academic suspension when he decided to enter the portal? Do you think the other sites/reporters knew this and chose not to report it?
