Fleck wouldn't work here because at Nebraska, the Nebraska program is the brand. Wherever Fleck goes, HE is the brand. All of Minnesota's posters, billboards, press material all features Fleck prominently. They don't have a Minnesota program now, they just have Fleck.

It's not the worst thing in the world for you - if you get results. Duke basketball's branding is Coach K. It's worked for them. This would never work at Nebraska for football though. For a sport like basketball however, NU would be more than fine with one guy hijacking their brand. Not football though.

More programs than Minnesota do this with their HC. It's actually quite common in the SEC with those head coaches.

I'd also note that we'll have a bigger appetite for sharing the brand if it means we have a winning program. For all the folks calling for Urban Meyer, he'd have a much bigger brand footprint than you can begin to imagine.

We just fired a coach that was a heavy drinker. Burt might win games but that fat fuck is a yuge drinker. I have some friends who got ties to the Wisconsin program and feed me occasional inside info. Wisconsin had a car service to drive him around so he didn't get a DUI. I saw him plastered at 7 pm the night before the Nebraska game. Like red faced sweaty blood shot eyes with a shit eating grin drunk. He had to either still be drunk the enxt day or fighting a serious hangover. I can't imagine his former Call Girl wife enjoys sleeping with that fat slob.

The guy can coach though. A lot of these coaches are drunks or cheaters. Maybe he has matured some since Arkansas and working with Belichick. I doubt he would have put up with Bert if he was still a drunk.

We are willing to look past Urb’s skeletons. I think Bert would do well here. I also think Fleck is a good coach. I could see Minnesota winning the west this year.
