I had heard he passed awhile back. Yes he was in Montana.
@Elizabeth Reed could elaborate more on where exactly.
He was banned multiple times. I didn’t even see the Kobe posts, but I can imagine. There is another brother that lives in Sweden or something. Renounced his US citizenship and moved there.
Theo lived in Eureka (with his adult son) which is in the extreme northwest corner of Montana. We were on vacation for a couple of weeks back in 2014, staying in the Whitefish, MT area.
On 10-4-14 the Huskers were playing Sparty in East Lansing. We had made a phone call to the local ABC affiliate to confirm the game was on and was told that the Montana St. game got local priority over the national game.
Soooo, we were fucked. Pretty sure I posted something on RSS expressing my frustration and Theo sent me a DM inviting us to drive to Eureka and watch the game with him, as he got his ABC feed out of some eastern Washington station.
We had some good friends from Orange County (UCLA fans) who joined us for the vacation. They were up for the 45 minute drive to Eureka so we packed some food and drink and headed out.
When we arrived at Theo’s driveway and looked up the hill at his “home”, it was unusual to say the least. A mobile home that had several structural additions, including a large porch on the front.
And I have never seen so much Husker shit, flags, lights, wind socks and every other outdoor decoration you could think of. It was trashy but it was epic……🤣
He welcomed us and we went inside. A true bachelor’s pad. LOL. His son wasn’t home. Theo had bought a ready-to-bake pizza. The place was not very clean and our wives did not sit down for one single minute during the four hours we were there.
Some of you may recall that Theo had fallen off of a ladder (from two stories up) about a year prior to our visit and almost died. He was still wearing a back brace and showed us a scrapbook with pics that covered the past year of his various stages of recovery.
We lost the game when Alonzo Moore couldn’t hall in a pass in the end zone on the final play of the game. We packed up and headed back to Whitefish shortly after the game was over. Theo was kind of a weird old cat but he was also a gracious host that night.
There ya go…..
