“After the official visit I can definitely say me and my family were definitely blown out of the water, again,” he said.

While it was the second time on campus for Miret and his father, this was the first trip for his mother and sister.

“They were amazed by the city of Lincoln, they were blown away,” he said. They didn’t expect it to be what it was.”

Miret noted that his older sister is headed to Florida State for college and aims to work in the Seminoles’ recruiting department. It meant a lot to the four-star and his family that Nebraska’s recruiting assistants took time out of the busy weekend to offer her some advice and a peek behind the curtain in what the job looks like.

For Miret himself, he got a lot more comfortable with the program, bonding with offensive linemen on campus like Tyler Knaak, Grant Brix, Jake Peters and Sam Sledge.

“I loved that we got to hang out with the players,” he said. “That was something I had never really done before. I got along with the players really well. I could definitely see myself playing for Nebraska.”

In addition to some current linemen on campus, Miret bonded with the three other offensive linemen making official visits over the weekend in four-star offensive tackle Kelvin Obot, four-star offensive lineman Hayden Aisnworth and three-star interior offnesiv elineman Rex Waterman. Miret noted he even made a group chat for the four of them coming out of the weekend.

“They want all of us,” he said. “We talked after, I made a little group chat with them and asked them what they thought about it and they said the same thing as me. The fact we got to hang out with each other, just kind of bond with the o-line. I’d say I’m pretty good friends with the three of them now too.”

It was a weekend of new and old connections for Miret and his family. Matt Rhule and offensive line coach Donovan Raiola might be leading the way for the Huskers in his recruitment but outside linebackers coach Philip Simpson has known him the longest.

“He actually used to be the head coach of Miami Southridge before he started coaching in college,” Miret said. “So he’s known me since back when I’d come around [the football program] when I was little. He’s known me since I was like six years old. It’s very comforting knowing that someone that I’ve known for a while will also be there with me.”

Miret, the reigning Florida heavyweight wrestling state champion, has also been offered the opportunity to wrestle at Nebraska and spent some time with Mark Manning over the weekend.

“Coach Manning, he completely understands that I’d be going for football, but I also have that option if I really want to be a wrestler too,” Miret said. “He says there’s no problem doing that.”

Before leaving campus, Miret heard one final pitch from Rhule and Raiola.

“They love that I’m a wrestler,” he said. “They love my mentality and how I carry myself. Matt Rhule and [Coach] Raiola made it known I’m very high on their board as a center and guard and they really want me to be part of the program.”

Coming out of the visit, with official visits to Ole Miss, Georgia Tech and Miami still ahead, where does Nebraska stand?

“Nebraska, it’s going to be hard to top. I guess I’ll say that,” he said. “I would say after this weekend it wouldn’t be hard to leave Miami.”
