It's already been a successful post-visit weekend for
Nebraska as the Huskers added a commitment from
Malcolm Simpson to the 2025 class.
However things don't appear to be slowing down at all for Nebraska recruiting. Perhaps the exact opposite.

Rumor has it…
— Nebraska is in a great spot for Christian Jones. The Omaha Westside linebacker made his official visit this past weekend and while it seems he might take some time before making a decision, Nebraska is in a really good spot.
It doesn't hurt that there are plenty of old teammates on the Nebraska roster or that the vibe around the program is strong or that for Jones the recruiting waters remain curiously tepid. Teams seem to love the talent, but might be questioning the likelihood he'd leave to go elsewhere.
Next weekend Jones heads to Oklahoma. The Sooners could be a good fit for the defender and
Brent Venables has always done well recruiting Midwest players.
But the biggest opponent for Nebraska is very likely itself. Sources close to the recruitment believe the linebacker wants to see if the Huskers start off hot and things have changed. Remember the last time Nebraska had a winning season Jones was in elementary school. The linebacker may want to see the Huskers succeed first before he gives the commitment.
Even still things are looking good here for Nebraska.
— Things remain relatively split for
Dawson Merritt. The
Alabama side of things feel good because the Crimson Tide had the last visit. The Nebraska side of things feel good because that visit wasn't an immediate yes/
Still as of Friday there hadn't yet been a Zoom between Merritt and Nebraska like he had perviously mentioned, though perhaps those meetings could take place this week.
The linebacker would be a big recruiting win, easily the biggest thus far of the class, and another signal that the Nebraska staff can hold its own in key recruiting battles.
We'll see if a decision comes this week, but last Husker247 heard from those involved, it still sits 50/50 even after the officials.
— The Simpson commitment feels like the start of something. Don't be surprised if there are more commitments this week from visitors or even those who haven't quite visited yet like when
Jamarion Parker popped earlier.
Nebraska has a big visit weekend set and there are some interesting names from the secondary. Don't be surprised if
Evan Cooper is able to land a player or two from a group that includes Jeremiah Jones,
Noah King and
Bryson Webber.
Other names to keep an eye on this week and weekend include
Rahim Hutchins Jr., a Shadow Creek wide receiver the Huskers seem higher on than the field and someone the staff has been chasing for awhile.
There's also Hawaiian offensive lineman Houston Kaahaiaana-Torres, who has felt like a Nebraska lean for awhile now.
It wouldn't be a surprise to see Nebraska's 11 commitments grow this week and keep growing into early July.
