Mongo said that McGahee is still recruiting players to Nebraska and that he got approval to take that OV from our staff.
Greg Smith also talked to McGahee and reported the same thing.

Mongo said McGahee called Jacorny Barney while he was at UCF to peer recruit him to Nebraska

So no public 'mitts yet?
Is this a case where he wants to go home and call the other schools to break the news before going public?
Since the tweet is from Knighton, I hope it's Anderson or Jones.
Have any of the other coaches tweeted anything? Hales?

Caleb Pyfrom has certainly seen a change in the Nebraska program since Matt Rhule took over. It’s easy to see why the Omaha Central standout has been to Lincoln four times since Rhule took over the program. That includes this weekend’s official visit.

"It was good. I loved it out there. I love the culture that Coach Rhule has brought to Nebraska. I feel like they are making improvements out there."

Pyfrom expanded on the type of evolution of the program he’s seen under Rhule so far.

"Like I said to you before, a lot of intensity in the practices like compared to the last staff,” Pyfrom said. “They have ramped it up a lot. I've heard from the players the practices are different. Just the mentality that we coming with every day is different from the last staff. I think we're going to see a lot of improvement this year."

One thing that excited Pyfrom during this visit was his time breaking down film with offensive line coach Donovan Raiola. The Omaha Central star got to see areas where he can improve. He's eager to install what Raiola taught him in the drills he is doing. It was great for Pyfrom to get Raiola’s perspective on where he needs to improve.
That film session wasn’t the only thing that was different about this trip for Pyfrom.
"I got around a lot more coaches. I talked to a lot more coaches this time around. I interacted with almost every position coach and a lot of assistant coaches. It was just a lot of love everywhere. I got to like know a lot more people and have a conversation."
Getting to know more coaches besides Raiola does help Pyfrom get more comfortable with the idea of committing to Nebraska. He had some great talks with assistant offensive line coach Aaron Coeling too. Pyfrom also got to spend time with quarterback commit
Danny Kaelin
. He made the drive down to hang out and build a bond.

“You know, it was cool having him drive down to Lincoln. I had to get a picture with him,” Pyfrom said.
Pyfrom and Kaelin talked about was the idea of being in-state players that help bring Nebraska back. It is an appealing thought for the Omaha prospect.

"It'll be cool. I already know that'd be something that would last you with you forever,” Pyfrom said. “You would forever be remembered for that, bringing Nebraska back."

Pyfrom does feel good knowing that he could be part of the group under Rhule that gets Nebraska back to its winning ways. Rhule wants him to be in the program. That was central to the message he gave the player during his final meeting on Sunday.

"Yeah, I had a sit down with him today,” Pyfrom said. He was saying he wouldn't recruit me if he didn't want me. Like he's not recruiting me just because I'm a local kid. It's just good to know that he actually wants me there in Nebraska. It feels good."

William “Speedy” Nettles doesn’t have a crazy story about how he got his nickname. The 2024 defensive back out of Dallas Christian School in Mesquite, Texas, was simply fast on the track when he was 8 years old, so the nickname stuck.
Fast forward the clock to present day, and Nettles, now a 6-foot-1, 175-pounder, still has that game-changing speed. It's helped him play both ways at his school. He helped Dallas Christian win the state title in 2021 and 2022. In 2022, he was used as a full-time receiver, too, on top of his starting corner duties and proved to be dangerous with 40 catches for 979 yards and 14 touchdowns.
His speed is just one of the traits head coach Matt Rhule and his defensive backs coach, Evan Cooper, find intriguing.

Nettles took in an official visit to Lincoln this past weekend. He arrived Thursday night and left for home Sunday morning. It was the second time Nettles has visited Lincoln — he was here in April for the annual Red-White spring game.
“It’s a good city and has a lot of great food,” Nettles told Inside Nebraska of what he thinks about Lincoln. “The people are really supportive there. I say that because I posted something (on social media) and they were just everywhere in the comments. A lot of spirit and friendly people down there. Just a big friendly city.”
When it came to food, Nettles and all the rest of the Husker recruits in town were taken care of.
“They had it all,” Nettles said. “Lobster, shrimp, alfredo. If I had to go with a favorite, I’d have to say the alfredo.”
With it being his second visit, Nettles had the goal in mind of finding out what it would be like to be a Husker football player. A day in the life, in other words.
“I wanted to get a better feel with the athletes,” Nettles said. “Like spend a day as an athlete, with college life, what they have to go through as a player and as a student there. We checked out the dorms and stuff. Just getting the deeper side of Nebraska and confirming how good of a place it really is.”
What stood out during the visit? Nettles said the new facility, for one. But getting a more in-depth look at the coaches was a large part of it, too.
“I got a better understanding of the coaches this time,” Nettles said. “I can actually confirm that those are probably some coaches I want to play for one day.”

Helping Nettles out with that goal of getting to know Nebraska better was current linebacker Kaine Williams, who was Nettles’ host.
“He enjoys it very much because he likes being coached by coach Rhule," Nettles said of Williams. "A lot of the players said that. He also said coach Cooper was one of his favorite coaches ever, and I took his word for it. He just couldn’t stop talking about the coaches and how they made him motivated to be a better player and a better man.”
Something else that stuck with Nettles while he was visiting with the current Huskers was the talk of always striving to be a player-driven team based on leadership. That really struck Nettles, who said he wants that exact thing in his future program.
“I think that’s really important,” Nettles said, “because holding each other accountable, sometimes without having the coach having to step in can take a bigger step than the coach having to fix everything. The players should know right from wrong.”
Nettles got to meet and hang out with Cooper during his visit, and Nettles thinks that relationship has grown.
“I liked him. He kept it real a lot of the time,” Nettles said of Cooper. “It seems like he trusts me. I feel like I can trust to play for him one day. He’s really technical, down to the detail. Down to Earth. I like him.”
The fact that Rhule and Cooper have coached in the NFL isn’t lost on Nettles. He likes the idea of playing for coaches who have that on their résumé.
“I think about it a lot,” Nettles said. “I do think it would be better to be coached by someone who has that experience of being in the NFL. They may know what it takes better than someone who just coached college ball.”
Husker fans should notice that players entering the program — whether they’re high school recruits or transfers who have experiences elsewhere — seem to always come away with positive things to say about Rhule. Nettles was no different.
To the defensive back, Rhule looks like he’s piecing together a big family. It’s not always like that in the business of college football.
“He’s really personable, down to the detail, cares about the players a lot,” Nettles said of Rhule. “I’d say he cares more about the players and building a family just as much as he does about football, so that’s always good. Most coaches I’d say probably don’t do the same thing as him.”
Nettles has two upcoming visits locked in: Purdoodoo on June 15 and SMU on June 22. He’s planning to make a decision on his commitment in mid-July.
