I'm sure he sees the next 45 days at the most important in his career, which they areI have to think he knows ’26 is pretty freaking important to his tenure.

We have a very small sample size for JoBu, but the numbers we do have say TW is/was a considerably better DC. And I’m not convinced that TW is a good/great DC, but I’m pretty comfortable saying he’s better than JoBu. Despite the small sample size.

We're talking about scheme and the defense as a whole, not individual stats. We've seen what poor edge defense does to a motherfucker this season.Dude had 29 tackles last year. He may have started but we brought Princewell in a lot for him.
Gbayor was probably a bigger loss than him as well.
The only DC I’ve written off after one year in Lincoln was Bob ‘The Strain’ Diaco.
He of the lip gloss and miniature microphone.
Butler’s small sample size was smaller than I think was reasonable, but I’ll wait to see who we pivot too before I spout off.
Agreed, too small of a sample to really know for sure if he could become a good DC. But the results for that small sample aren’t good enough to really take hard stance on firing him. Just hire someone better now.
Rhule fired Butler when I don't think any significant number of fans thought it was likely at all. So apparently Rhule is the "impatient" one in regards to Butler's performance. Our fan base isn’t patient enough. If the Dc is bad their first year, poof, gone.
What long term DC will willingly come here knowing the likelihood of retention in the program is near zero plus the weird relationship with snow?
Any dc we get knows it’s a short stop. We blamed frost’s and Riley’s assistants at first too

Dom gave Rhule the ultimatum… Raiola’s are back N
Seems like they already have to me, could be wrong though
Correct but you are limiting what W.N. And K.D can do with their skill sets. Those two should be split outside the tackles every play. They need to go get a nose and a 3 tech in the portal and spend some of that cash we have. And I never understood why Rhule thought this defense would be ok with just RVP and Jeudy inside. That’s concerning to me.Whether you're an even or odd front you have to have 6 bodies that can play A or B gap in the Big 10. Nebraska has approximately 1 right now in RVP and I think he was thrown into too many reps a year too early.

My take on Rhule post yr 2 is that he was operating on some type of fiscal restraints (self imposed or other) and that affected his decision-making - portal, coaches, everywhere. Rhule appears to have got the message that this is an elite, blue blood program that is able to spend accordingly.I said on Friday that I’m okay with head coaches making mistakes as long as they learn and correct them.
It’s not ideal to be onto our 3rd DC in 3 years. However, I applaud Rhule for making the move as I think the objective person simply knew this wasn’t going to work.
Rhule appears willing to do whatever it takes to win here. I hope this time next year we are talking about this move being a correct and critical one that propelled us forward in 2026.
Watching his buddy buy a playoff roster in Lubbock might have had an impactMy take on Rhule post yr 2 is that he was operating on some type of fiscal restraints (self imposed or other) and that affected his decision-making - portal, coaches, everywhere. For example, I read something on TOS that said that Valdin Sone (DT recruit) preferred Nebraska but that Rhule just didn't want to pay him (ie he had the money, he just didn't want to use it).
Then you had Rhule making his pitch in OCT on how Nebraska needs to pay up and not just fall back to 'we don't do that here.' Etc. Whatever it is, it appears a new leaf has been turned over and I expect Rhule to be spending this money. I do think this Butler firing is a shot across the bow for this - this won't be an internal hire, he's gonna spend big for the new DC.
Now, what was preventing this over the last 12 months, we may never know.
Give what's been reported on how UGA manages freshmen NIL and that Sone is international, I'd be surprised if they actually let him walk over money. And if so that's absolutely bat shit decision making. My take on Rhule post yr 2 is that he was operating on some type of fiscal restraints (self imposed or other) and that affected his decision-making - portal, coaches, everywhere. I'm betting so but who knowsI think they do also BUT if they do why would Rhule say Snow is the "interim" DC for the bowl game?? Is the new DC coaching still??
Also I found it hard to believe that an international dude like this from VA with THIS offer list would be like "no, fam, Lincoln, Nebraska is my #1 destination."Give what's been reported on how UGA manages freshmen NIL and that Sone is international, I'd be surprised if they actually let him walk over money. If they had a chance to land an elite DT prospect and turned it down for literally any reason other than he wanted to be able murder people at random on his off days, I'm outAlso I found it hard to believe that an international dude like this from VA with THIS offer list would be like "no, fam, Lincoln, Nebraska is my #1 destination."
I'm hoping we haven't lost anyone key recruits just bc Rhule didn't want to use money he had on them. We have no evidence this ever occurred BTW.

Many such cases
I don't think it should be complicated. Let your DC run his defense. If he leaves, hire a new DC and let him run his defense. Don't micromanage your best people. This is basic leadership stuff
Or keep doing what we're doing, it's working out really well
