He does take a beating, but much of it seems deserved. I do think there are couple of things going on. Its either or all of the following:

1. He’s spreading himself too thin with events, administrative stuff, business development (maintain / grow membership), playing moderator on RSS, and then traveling to anything Husker related to ‘be at the scene’ and write about it.
2. Poor delegator of activities...see above.
3. Isn’t acting like the senior leader of the HOL organization, and clinging to the ‘fun’ activities like going to games and not delegating the activities that should and could be done better by other people. Reference 1 and 2.
4. Doesn’t know how to use spell check
5. Is a poorly trained journalist
6. Is too cushy with athletic department and doesn’t want to offend them.
7. Perceives himself to be cushy with athletic department and doesn’t want to offend them, but the really think he is a goober
8. Is hiding the fact that he knows he has no relationship with the athletic department and trying to win them over by not reporting anything that might upset or surprise them.

Either way, he needs to pull his team together and go back to the drawing board. Take some constructive criticism, rewrite everyone’s assignments to leverage their strength and turn this into a learning experience. Unfortunately he doesn’t seem the type to welcome the feedback as he does come across as defensive.

I actually think tPB is going to make them better. They have already made some effort to try and put some more stuff out there in TT and stuff like that. It is kind of like a business that is hungry at first and fights for people's business. But eventually you start thinking you are great and don't need everyone's business and start treating customers like they are expendable. I think they are starting to realize that people aren't going to put up with that crap when information is readily available elsewhere so they will redouble their efforts to be good again.

LOL, I will 100% do this if he tries to pull any of that tough-guy bullshit with me like @slattimer and @TraditionCoalition have described. I'm honestly not sure what Dean thinks is the "endgame" of his strategy there. Is he going to dox his posters? Does he not realize how much of a shitstorm that would create?

I still regret the timing when he made such an overture to me. I used to call him out on the retracted Bo article bullshit from 2013 all the time. I gave him my number, but he called me as I was heading into my former labmate's thesis defense. Tried calling back later, but apparently if you make Dean go to voice mail once, you've lost your chance to speak like men.

In the time since my original, nuked post, Dean has made one further post about the next location of the Purdue game, Nate made a comment about the targeting penalties carrying over, and Robin said people don't know what was wrong with Omar Manning.

Meanwhile, we still have very important open questions relating to whether the Wisconsin game will be a no contest or forfeit due to Wisconsin voluntarily ceasing football activities and whether the UT-Chat. rumors have any legs to them.

It’s a shit show over there. I asked Dean if he has reached out to Sir Yacht about joining HOL. Even if his info is BS half the time, that isn’t anything worse than the HOL staff track record..
I will say that Robin actually put out a blurb about McGowens today, so apparently he is at least acting like he still has a job

Fuck, I've gotten lots of them. They're usually some passive-aggressive bullshit where he'll say something about knowing who you are or something along those lines, but if you don't have a personal email on file, he'll make some anonymous internet tough guy schpiel at you. I don't even know if I can get back into my old account on tater island to find some.

Gotten my fair share of those DM's from him. Got real heated after the Rivals site crashed a second year in a row. I would say some of the words we exchanged in those DM's were a bit harsh

I hope so. That was very much the spirit of my comments. Hard for me to judge from a distance, but Sean just seems to want to do the cool stuff, like travel and go to golf events. Nice, but you can’t do those tings if you don’t delegate the other activities to competent staff and you make clear what your expectations are. Furthermore, if you take all the fun jobs and give crap to everyone else you will lose your staff.

Here is to hoping they redouble their efforts but not before Sean pulls his team together and they do some soul searching about how they want to improve things.
