January Recruiting Thread

WTF is Satterfield doing these days besides collecting a paycheck?
Do we really want his scintillating personality out on the road? I will bet you all kinds of things that sometime during spring ball we get a soliloquy from Rhule about all the amazing behind the scenes contributions the offense is getting from Satterfield.

I mean, I do think the concepts, Xs & Os, and position coaching is likely his stronger suit. I believe we've had a couple insiders discuss this.

He's just not a play caller, standard-holder, or the strong leader as a coordinator or head man, especially at the P2 level.

At an OC salary, he's definitely overpaid for what he's likely to contribute, but I do think he brings some things to the table.

I agree with the bolded. I’ve never met him, but his work as OC in Lincoln aligns with what I’ve seen from a lot of highly intelligent people. He’s too much in his own head, concepts, etc., and has a hard time adjusting when what works on paper and in his own head isn’t working on the field.

Quick someone show this to Neyor on how to not have the ball ripped out of your hands

2026 OT Kelvin Obot Fruitland (Idaho) four-star offensive tackle Kelvin Obot holds offers from 15 schools and took game visits this fall to Boise State, Nebraska, Oregon, USC and Utah. He has no visits scheduled yet, but Obot wants to return to these programs in the future, as well as visit schools such as Michigan, Michigan State and Washington.

Tennessee is the most recent offer, and the Vols, and many others communicate with him on a regular basis.

“What I look for in a program is their consistency and if I can see myself there,” Obot told On3. “I want to see if I can picture myself at a school that has had a history of developing players for a long period of time. Being the person who goes somewhere and transfers is not who I want to be. I want to be able to go to a program and stick to them until it is my time to leave.”

The 6-foot-5, 265-pound recruit plans to take official visits before announcing his commitment. It is still early in the process for Obot. Yet the No. 1 player in Idaho already knows a few things that he is looking for in a school.

“The different personalities of coaches and the techniques that they teach are important to me,” said Obot, the No. 39 overall prospect and No. 8 offensive tackle in the 2026 On300. “I really like seeing the way that people handle their business.”

Oregon, USC and Nebraska have Obot’s attention

Oregon hosted Obot on Nov. 30 for its game against Washington. He left Eugene feeling good about the Ducks.

“My visit definitely helped my interest in them,” Obot said. “It’s definitely up there, being a top school. They made a good impression.”

One of the reasons why the Big Ten program stood out to Obot is because of how Oregon’s players and coaches went about themselves, their meetings and being part of a college football program. Spending time with Ducks players, learning how they get coached and taking part in meetings were highlights of Obot’s time in Eugene.

“You can tell that they’re trying to win and the people there are really invested in that program,” Obot said.

Obot also “had a really good time” at the other programs he visited. One of them was USC and he was in Los Angeles on Nov. 16 for the Trojans’ game against Nebraska.

A memorable experience during his visit was attending USC’s 28-20 win over the Cornhuskers. That is because the game was “pretty thrilling” and came down to the final play.

“I really enjoyed LA,” Obot said. “It’s a lot different from home in Fruitland, Idaho. I really enjoyed my time at USC. I also really like the people down there.”

In between his trips to USC and Oregon, Obot went to Lincoln on Nov. 23. He watched Nebraska defeat Wisconsin and clinch their first bowl game berth since 2016.

Obot shared that Nebraska and USC are two “big” schools in terms of programs treating him like a priority. The Cornhuskers caught his attention while he was on campus.

“Their fanbase is crazy,” Obot said. “I got to tour the facilities and that was really cool. The fans there and the support that the players have from them is crazy.”
