And all I can think about is how next week to me is going to be the week we officially turn the corner to a new chapter of Nebraska football.

Nebraska played incredibly hard today. I actually didn’t sense like we were walking on egg shells at the end of the game as a team/players standpoint in the first time in forever. Maybe since the Pelini early days. Think back to how much nervous energy was there the whole second half against Illinois and then compare that to today. Night and day different energy wise.

What I’m most excited about is I truly believe we we will take this same week of prep from this week into next week and take it all out on UCLAbia at home to go bowling. It’s going to be an enormous moment for the program and monkey off our back, and we will celebrate it accordingly. But what I’m most pumped about is being able to then know that the team will play freely for the final 3 games beyond that @ SC, v Wisconsin and v Cockeye and start building for the future in 2025 and beyond.

There are numerous “achievements” left out there this season that can make me feel great about the direction of this program. Beating the ever living piss out of UCLAbia next week is the start of that and based upon what we saw today I feel strongly this team is setting themselves up to do just that.

If you have sand in your vagina, go somewhere else. I’m proud of our team and I’m more glad to have a coach that can get beat like we did last week and have our team and culture building to be able to be resilient enough to bounce back and perform like we did today. Lots of things to go back and fix from today but lots of things to be proud of and acknowledge as well. Things are trending in the right direction and we will begin to see as much next week.

Great post

We get bowl eligible next week and the team gets the confidence boost it needs. All of the remaining games are winnable

Sorry, just tired of the same cycle repeating over and over again. We’ve endured enough. Let’s actually win something for the love of fuck.
I'm glad OP is happy but it really blows my mind how anyone can feel confident about the direction of the program, based on losing an extremely winnable game against a good opponent by one score

Like where have you been the last five years bro lol

Exactly. They played probably the worst game possible with that roster, and we still lost.

It’s hard to win games in college football with an inept offense, so it’s hard to feel confident. I still think we can break even in the last four games. I hope so anyways.

The point is we're happy with the direction, not the result. Rhule isn't responsible for anything prior to about December of '22.

We've got a team culture, a roster with a distribution chart that's actually sustainable, legit buy-in and work ethic from the coaches and administration, and a foundation of young players across the roster.

OSU is a top 5 team with 5 years of 5 star talent across the board, all-star coaches, and this team rallied after a poor performance to go toe to toe with them. Yes, we'll have to get over the hump eventually, and there are no moral victories, but this is still a mark of progress in the the arc of a rebuild. Scott Frost's dysfunction kept us in this part of the frustration loop, but a good coach will progress through it.

Rhule is gonna need to critically evaluate some assistants, but if he can do that, we'll continue taking next steps. Starts with taking care of business next week to get the bowl game millstone off our necks.

I guess. But really the direction only looks good because we got btfo last week

"Joe, the fix was in. The crooked B1G needed Ohio State to win to keep 2 conference teams in the top 4."

"You're telling me the Big 10 rigged this game?"

"It's big BIG money Joe. I know I'm very rich and I used to rig Miss Universe all the time."

"To make more money?"

"To get pussy Joe, the best Pussy."

"Wow... that's great point."

Agree with everything you said, but want to know where you’re staying in the Maldives? My wife and I stayed at Kudo Bondos and Thulagiri before heading to the Aman in Sri Lanka. Wanted the overwater villas near the Male airport. As you know, there’s literally over 1,000 great hotel islands to choose from. Curious if you have any recommendations for our next trip over there? Awesome job keeping up with the Big Red from over there!

Love the casual Aman drop

Hanging with with a top 5 team is respectable regardless of last week. We hadn’t led a top 5 team in the fourth quarter since 2009. That’s a step in the right direction, last week happening or not.
Losing winnable games isn't a step in the right direction, quite the opposite. It doesn't really matter what the team is ranked. They weren't playing like the #4 team - we deserve some credit for that, but once again, couldn't close out a very winnable game

Leading in the 4Q against a top 5 team is a hilariously meaningless stat. First, because we lost. And second, because it's just where the team was ranked at the time. If we'd played and led Florida St in week 0, we'd have led a top 10 team. They're 1-6 now. When we led Michigan in the 4Q in 2021, they were undefeated and #9 nationally. They were a top 5 team like two weeks later.

This is correct. While I'm proud of the effort and content not getting waxed, we won't be able to tell if our team has truly taken a step in the right direction until we start winning some games.

it does matter what the team is ranked. If this happened against 1-6 Utah state it’s much different than against Ohio State.

Good point about rankings. If this was beginning of September I’d agree. But it’s late October. Rankings matter at this point of the year.

We haven’t beat a top 5 team in 23 years. I’m bummed we didn’t pull this one out. But it’s a step in the right direction and Rhule has us going in the right direction.
