Is Brent Venables a good coach?

I’m sure Ryan Day is a good coach but I’m still waiting to see if the wheels fall off since he took over an elite program and was bound to win for at least a couple years. Nebraska did almost beat them last year…
They lost a lot of really good receivers the last two years.

I'm failing to see whats wrong with figuring out what the other teams signs are.
Nothing’s wrong with it, but don’t call yourself a good poker player if you keep an ace up your sleeve all game. The next season Clemson went 9-3 with other teams doing what OSU did.

They were 8th in the country in total defense last year. Maybe losing the #1 draft pick at qb had something to do with it.

Oh and 3rd in points per game. This might be the dumbest argument I've had on here.

Sorry. 2nd ppg. 3rd in opponent TD's

Jim is feeling feisty today
It's just not a realistic point.

Guarantee every team tries to steal signs. Thats why offenses change them every game.

Either Clemson was better at it than most or it was a bullshit comment by Ohio St.

if you're not trying to steal signs, you're dumb.

not sure why everyone gets so worked up about it in baseball

I know some guys that stole signs back in HS. Ole Red Beard (father of one guy) made him cut trees in the pasture with an axe all summer.

When I was coaching 6th grade they had wrist bands with the play associated with the number. I would run a sub in with the number. One of the chain gang guys was from the other team.

A. He was half drunk at like noon on a Sunday.
B. He would listen to what number I called and then started yelling in what the play was going to be to the defense. I only had about a dozen plays. Even drunk it wasn't too hard to pick up on the number.

Now that was fucked up. Naturally I just moved away from him and talked quieter after calling him a douchebag and nearly getting in a fight.

Read the fucking article i posted before popping off tough guy.

There’s multiple ACC coaches in there stating that Venables is known for stealing signs and they explain how he does it. Would of known that had you read the article before replying to it.

So no not a bullshit comment by Ohio State,

Yeah, personally i think all batters should have a buzzer taped to their shoulder. Great for the game of baseball and pitchers

Lol popping off. I don't care how he does it. I read the article. Doesn't mean Ohio St and others aren't full of shit.

Results in the year after everyone knows about it is he's 2nd in the country in points per game from 2nd in the country in points per game (ignoring the covid bullshit year).

So whatever they're doing to combat him making last second changes from stealing signs clearly isn't working.

Bo doesn’t get enough credit for just how good of a coaching job he did in 2009. Yeah, we had Suh and a lot of talent; but the decisions he made with the offense and special teams were masterful at times.

We had literally the worst offense I’ve ever seen that year.

Maybe your point is he gave up on offense and relied on his defense, but he still oversaw an ungodly awful offense so not sure he deserved much praise there.

Defense and ST were great that year.

Was very painful to watch.

Which was kind of my point. His in game coaching was almost impeccable.

I don’t see how going into a complete shell offensively demonstrates in game coaching brilliance. It didn’t work against Cockeye State, Virginia Tech, Texas Tech, etc.

Easily his best year coaching though.
