Is 25 Indiana better than 95 Nebraska?

Indiana is about as good as 2015 Cockeye with slightly better skill talent. I don't think its been fully realized how much worse a top-end team is now vs pre-NIL.
2022 Georgia was the last team in an echelon that will probably never be tapped again. 2019 LSU before that was the last team that can be compared to all the teams throughout history

Honestly it’s getting to be too long ago to compare to modern teams. Lots of rule changes. All the competition has optimized nutrition and strength training. Unlike back then where there was just a handful of teams that even looked like the same species as us.
What I will say is if Indiana completes the 16-0 season it will be a lot more impressive than any of our natty runs. There is really no shame in that. It would probably be the most impressive single season ever given their history.
I agree with a lot of this, but regardless of era, rule differences, etc, that ‘95 team was on another level. A level’25 Indiana can’t compete with.
They win against Miami and finish 16-0 and they will and should get their props.
For all the talk about S&C, this was NOT the conventional wisdom at the time. We were not even mentioned in the same stratosphere as the athletes for 1993 FSU. 1994 Miami was also considered more athletic than us by a significant margin (option didn't have a chance of working against their defense, it was said). 1995 Florida was supposed to be way faster when playing on the same surface. The 1997 team was not thought to be at the same level as previous years. (Ironically, 1996 was probably the year people liked our team/athletes the most on paper.)
We go back and (rightly) give flowers to our strength & nutrition program for their work in helping make those teams what they were, and it was an edge, but if you made a comment in the 1990s that none of the other teams even looked like the same species, half of the college football experts would have argued with you.
2019 LSU is legitimately in the conversation. I'll defend 1995 Nebraska until death, but that LSU team was STRONG. They're the closest imo.
Edit... I do think you're underselling Indiana here, but I agree the landscape is different.
I still think the 2001 Miami team is up there too. When they wanted to play they were pretty much unbeatable.
2019 LSU is arguably the greatest collection of offensive firepower ever assembled.
To me greatest team of all time is between 95 Nebraska, 01 Miami, 19 LSU
2019 LSU and 2001 Miami are probably the two best teams of all time when you look at them on an NFL basis. Some Alabama teams are probably up there too but I can't pull one specifically. That will never happen again due to the cost to retain good sophomores unless the upcoming CBA goes the direction of 3-year deals with 1 year options

If you add Ohio St in the CCG to it its not much different other than the week off.
I get the UofM roster argument, but they had 2 relative squeakers that year against BC and VaTech and the only top 10 team they beat all year was us. The case based on performance and resume is much stronger for LSU.
True but A&M and Ole Piss are better than both Alabama and Oregon.

Agree on Alabama disagree on Oregon. Think Oregon is probably the best of the 4. Alabama the worst.

I guess I’m subconsciously down playing our history because I didn’t get to experience any of the fun stuff. Quite frankly I’m a bit jealous of those that did.
My general point, while somewhat exaggerate, is that there aren’t any Cockeye State type freebee wins in the Big 10. Even Cockeye State isn’t Cockeye State anymore. I guess we will see what they are post MC.
To be fair to me I said only a handful of teams looked like us. Not none. When I watch old highlights though if you analyze some of our conference opponents you see a lot of guys that would have no business on a modern P4 roster. Maybe they just look malnourished and slow next to such greatness? I think maybe both scenarios have some truth to them.

Just one guys opinion but they’re fine. Not a knock on Mendoza but he’s Sam Bradford and I don’t think he’s going to be a GREAT qb in the league. He’ll have a better career than CJ Beathard did but I don’t think this Indiana team has as much NFL production on aggregate and I don’t think it’s close
It’s a team of good, well developed players that play really smart football with great chemistry. That’s such a hard thing to build with the portal so credit to them, but I don’t think I would take them +4 against a single champ between 1994 and 2022
