It just makes me sick watching Indiana play

I don't think it would an "entertaining" game at all. I think Indiana would win by 25 points. I will be shocked if Ole Miss beats Miami. The Hurricanes are really dictating things on the D-line with Reuben Bain, Ahkeem Mesidor, and David Blay.

Ole Miss won't be able to block those guys at all. And the Rebels defense actually kind of sucks.

Miami might actually get the break of a lifetime. Its really difficult to beat a great team twice. And I wouldn't be surprised if Oregon can find a way to beat the Hoosiers in their second try.

Indiana would kick the shit out of Miami's undisciplined ass. But they will be much more competitive vs. Oregon.
I think it will be Indiana v Miami.

I think Oregon has a better chance of beating Indiana than Ole Miss does of beating Miami.

Either way, give me the winner in the Oregon v Indiana game to win it all.

Outside of the backwards hat that no adult should be caught wearing Rhule is fine.

I like Coach Rhule a lot.

With players on the OL, DL and QB I think we have a chance with him.

IND Coach looks serious 100% of the time.
NEB Coach is sometimes drooling and spitting and yes, the backwards hat is goofy for a 60 year old.

Let's quit crowning Cignetti as doing something that's never been done before... Look at ol' Bob...

Short answer: Bob Devaney’s turnaround at Nebraska is more historically impressive, but Curt Cignetti’s Indiana turnaround is more shocking in a modern context. They’re impressive in different ways.

Here’s a clean side-by-side way to think about it.

Bob Devaney — Nebraska (hired 1962)

What he inherited

  • Nebraska had one winning season in the previous 16 years
  • National irrelevance
  • Poor facilities, limited recruiting footprint, little identity

What he did

  • First season (1962): 9–2, including wins over ranked teams
  • Won at least 9 games in each of his first 6 seasons
  • Built Nebraska into a national power, not just respectable
  • Two national championships (1970, 1971)
  • Set the foundation for Tom Osborne’s dynasty

Why it’s special

  • He didn’t just “turn it around” — he changed the trajectory of the program forever
  • Nebraska went from forgotten to blue blood
  • Did it without:
    • Transfer portal
    • Massive TV money
    • National recruiting infrastructure
  • Sustained elite success over a decade

Legacy impact

  • Nebraska football is still defined by Devaney’s culture
  • Few coaches in history can claim they created a powerhouse from scratch

Curt Cignetti — Indiana (hired 2024)

What he inherited

  • Historically one of the worst Power Five programs ever
  • Minimal tradition, limited fan expectations
  • Competing in the Big Ten East / Big Ten against giants
  • No realistic path to sustained national relevance (on paper)

What he did

  • Immediate, dramatic improvement
  • Turned Indiana into a competitive, disciplined, confident team almost overnight
  • Changed the psychology of the program
  • Did it fast, in an era where patience is rare

Why it’s shocking

  • Indiana football is where hope usually goes to die
  • Modern parity + NIL + portal chaos makes fast rebuilds harder in some ways
  • He exceeded expectations immediately

But…

  • The sample size is still small
  • Sustainability is unproven
  • Indiana becoming “respectable” ≠ Indiana becoming a national power

The Key Difference

Devaney:

  • Turned Nebraska into something it had never been
  • Sustained elite success
  • Program-defining impact
  • Changed college football history

Cignetti:

  • Did something nobody thought was possible that fast
  • Massive short-term cultural shift
  • Still writing his story

Final Verdict

If the question is:

  • “Which turnaround was more impressive historically?”
Bob Devaney, and it’s not close
  • “Which turnaround is more surprising in the moment?”
    Curt Cignetti

Devaney built a cathedral.
Cignetti lit a bonfire in a snowstorm.

Both impressive — but only one changed the sport’s landscape permanently.

I like his face everytime i see him.

Cignetti is the old school coach who is a no BS type. You have to respect that especially because how college football has evolved into coaches having to kiss player’s asses due NIL and the portal. Rhule is the guy who wants to be everyone’s friend. He also has no attention to detail.
