Never go full RSS, what a joke. 30-40MPH winds today folks, pretty tough to throw a football in those conditions.
I am still in Dylan's corner. He's doing things we haven't had a passer do here... ever. Our chances of having a great season, 9, 10 wins, depending on Dylan having a successful year.
But I am not buying into this wind excuse.
In the second and third quarters, Dylan was 5-of-9 passing.
The incompletitions:
1. underhanded pass batted down by defender in DR's face, trying for EJ in flats
2. Interception thrown right to a defender Dylan apparently didn't see
3. Short WR screen pass that hit Barney in the hands that he dropped.
4. The next play, short pass under pressure to Key in the flats that was off target.
I don't believe the wind affected any of these incompletions, three of which were thrown less than 3 yards downfield.
And included in the completions was our deepest pass downfield all day, the 45-yarder to Barney down the right sideline (which came directly after incompletes 3 and 4). The wind didn't prevent that play.
What hurt the offense more than the wind was inablity to get any drives going. We simply didn't possess the ball very much in those two quarters (until the final drive with the long pass to Barney followed by long run by Johnson).
And again, the wind had no effect on the sacks. There were as many sacks (4) in those two quarters as incompletions. Those sacks screwed us over way more than any wind did.
On our first possession of the fourth quarter, suddently Dylan is throwing quick, easy completions before he is pressured. These were not passes helped by the wind. They were quick and short routes. Why we weren't doing this all day, I don't know. It helped that Dylan wasn't being swallowed up in the pocket, which again has nothing to do with the wind.
