I wonder if Rhule is pursuing "win now" guys like this (3-yr starter OL)

I don’t make $9mil a year (but I do work in corporate), but my thought would 100% always be - I’m bringing in players that are better than players we have on our current roster regardless of how many years they have left. I’ll do the same thing next year and the year after. Any amount of overthinking/strategy beyond that is taking away from my mission to get the best players here I possibly can.

Now obviously there’s development to think about with high school kids but in regards to transfers - I give zero shits how many years they have left as long as they have 1.

I know what the opinion of us message board guys is - we've already approved a $10bn per year NIL budget (we could be persuaded to go as high as $11bn/yr, but we'd need to see the financials 😂).

I'm curious what Rhule's strategy is though.

I agree with you, with the portal now, you can win now. You don't need to make things a 3-yr project. If Mel frigging Tucker could win in yr 1, Matt Rhule can.
This is where Davison needs to throw the Peeds money around

We can skip the 1-11 start which is generally where he is after year one. If he goes 6-6, 8-4, and then 11-2 I’m all in.
I think hre has to do this; given the ease with which guys can transfer, going 1-11 in year one is a much bigger detriment than it was 5-6 years ago when people expected a turn around to take a few years. If he wants to be able to recruit, and retain the players he is developing, I think he's got to try to improve upon last season's record at least some in order to defuse the negative pitches from opponents recruits and portal guys will hear if he doesn't.

That being said, I suspect he will stay away from one year rent-a-players and look for guys who are likely to be here at least two years.
