Maybe.

But I also remember Casey Thompson in a lot of 2nd halves last year being....not good at all.

I agree here. I'm not disputing that CT was a good QB for us, but I remember cursing as he missed quite a few open throws at times during games. He threw a really nice deep ball and he just happened to have a deep threat in Palmer that at times, made it a pretty easy throw.

Hard to be good with an atrocious o-line.
That line may not be much better this year and Sims is much more mobile than Casey. Plus do you think Sims was playing behind the 95 Dallas Cowboys last year at Georgia Tech?

I don't want this to turn into me bashing Casey Thompson. He was a good player for Nebraska last year. But I'm gonna trust Rhule and Co. with Sims. I wish Thompson would have stuck around for depth, but once Sims was brought in, I didn't think there was much, if any, chance of Thompson being the starter. Sims is a very trait-sy QB, who has played on a less talented roster than Thompson in his career. He also has 2 years left of playing time which also factors into this decision.

Similar to Wynn transferring. Wynn has one year left. Rhule and Co know that 2023 isn't going to be some banner year for Nebraska. So they probably told Wynn..."we're gonna get guys reps that are going to be here longer than 1 year (Buckley, Van Poppel etc etc). So you can stay but your reps will be limited and you'll just be a spot player" So Wynn is going to go play somewhere to try and see if he can make a career out of being a football player. Thompson is doing the same thing. Rhule is thinking ahead to 2024 as much as he is 2023 with making Sims the QB.

Also it's not like Thompson doesn't turn the ball over. He threw 10 INTs last year in 10 games. Thompson is a good QB, I think he'll start in the SEC in 2023. But I think Sims would start for those same teams.

Disagree. I like Washington, but Kemp, Betts and IGC can carry the load. Add on Coleman, Doss and Fleeks and that's plenty good. One perk of going back to a more traditional offense is we don't need 72 receivers at all times.
I disagree with your disagree! Kemp is good, but you can’t put your chips on fleeks whose done nothing in college, two unproven freshman, and Betts and IGC who both have glaring historical red flags

Disagree with your Disagree of my Disagree.

I just wanted to say that. I can appreciate that view point but I just don't share it is all.

We want guys who want to compete.
We do, but you can’t fault him for not risking his final year of playing college football, and most likely football in general, to find another home.

I don't know how much his injury affected him, but he played some pretty bad games over the back half of the year. Incl. some real head-scratching throws if you're looking more for the game manager/accurate guy.

Man people are freaking out about this but I really don’t think it’s a big deal. We heard a lot of talk that Casey is selfish and we know he’s injury prone. All that said I’m pretty sure the coaches would have started Sims anyway.

All I see is people discussing their concerns. Far cry from freaking out IMO.

Besides, we’re all too downtrodden from the past 7+ years to Freak Out about anything football related.
