A former member of the Nebraska football operation from another decade, with a wide array of experience in recruiting, is back in the Husker program.

Vince Guinta, who was around four four years in operation and personnel roles during the Bill Callahan era, is now listed on the staff directory as the senior director of player personnel and recruiting for Nebraska. It's a return to a place where his career started to take off.

He began as a Nebraska football operations intern on the Callahan staff and was promoted to assistant director of football operations and director of football personnel and recruiting prior to the 2005 season. While the on-field results wavered during those years, the recruiting classes were well received, including additions like Ndamukong Suh, with top 25 classes all four years. He had some crossover with Bo Pelini's time in Lincoln too.

Most recently Guinta had been at Baylor since January, 2020, with previous stops also at Oregon State and Wisconsin. With the Badgers, Guinta was involved in all facets of Wisconsin recruiting and part of a 2014 class that ranked the highest in school history.

His recent Baylor at bio described that "he oversees all aspects of the Baylor Football recruiting process, which includes prospect identification, evaluations, marketing and social media, and campus visitations. Guinta’s 20 years of major college football involvement, including in the Pac-12, Big Ten, Big 12 and Mountain West conferences, provides national experience to the Bears’ recruiting efforts."

Also showing up in the staff directory now as a quality control coach is D.J. Vokolek, who was the linebackers coach and assistant head coach at Northern Cockeye. He is well familiar to members of this Husker staff and is the father of Nebraska tight end Travis Vokolek, who decided to return for one more season and should be one of the leading figures on this 2022 roster.

D.J. Vokolek is also a native of Lincoln and played at Nebraska-Kearney.

Finding guys that know how to play the game.

Your recruiting department has to be deep....really deep now-a-days.

Seems tough to make the claim that you're serious about competing for titles if you aren't all in at about $15-18 million in a year between coaches, analysts, and recruiting department personnel.

No doubt. Reasonably speaking even if you want to have a competitive edge over the Big 10 West...which isn't full of big spenders
