Why didn't we try to score more points?

They missed 2 field goals one that was only 35 yards. Martinez also threw an interception inside the 25 yard line. They also had a EP blocked.

So twice Nebraska got in the red zone and came up with zero points.

Their first drive they got inside the 25 and then settled for a 51 yard field goal. Made it but still not converting red zone trips into touchdowns.

In the 2nd quarter Nebraska couldn't convert on a 2nd and 1 (ended up 3rd and 5) and had to settle for a missed 50 yarder FG try.

They left 7 points on the board even with shitty red zone offense. If they have a good redzone offense you're looking about maybe 4-8 more points out of that...so instead of 7 points you're looking at 11-15 points. When you think about how this wasn't as much of a high possession game as Texas v OU then 27-31 points is obviously a lot more to like.

Basically Nebraska had a decent game plan for this game. Less possessions is a + for a less talented team. But couldn't convert...per usual in special teams and redzone trips and it cost them the game.

Don’t know if sarcastic but FWIW his thumb injury happened late in the OU game. He could barely grip the ball the rest of the season after it happened.
