B- or C+.

Got us to a bowl for the first time in 8 freaking years, can't understate that.

Also left a lot on the table, and hasn't made enough progress eliminating the mistakes and breakdowns.

But leaning towards the higher side of that because ditching Satt for Holgs is maybe the biggest assistant coach upgrade in the history of football.

I voted C-. I venture to guess some people will be a tad more fired up tonight post Cockeye loss and rank us in the D+ through D- range and I could be open to changing my vote into that range.

Preseason win total was 7.5 - we finish with 6 wins to miss this by 1.5 games. By that metric alone you can say we underperformed

But for a guy that routinely talks about how all he know is just to go back and fix the things that are causing us issues - we haven’t really done any of that. The most glaring issue of all being special teams but also the offensive output was atrocious. Not to mention the specifics like Kick Return game, all the kicks we had blocked, the acceptance of the lack of WR blocking, over loyalty to Satt and Foley, and on and on and on.

The reality is college football has changed since Matt Rhule was at Baylor. This is also the hardest collegiate conference he’s ever played in. I do think he has potential to be a great CEO like coach for us but he needs to be much less loyal to how he did things at prior stops and observe the broader CFB landscape to figure out how to blend his past into the future of CFB.

The roster was going to turnover pretty heavily regardless because of the new 105 rule in place, but I would bet we’ll see even more turnover than expected. We HAVE to bring in some difference makers at the skill positions and people that aren’t afraid to return punts and kicks. It’s truly baffling how time and time again we find ourselves in this situation and its because we just are one guy short or one guy making a play away from being in a much better spot.

This is a critical, critical offseason. We need to jump to 8-9 wins next year for me to feel good about the direction of the program, and those are pre-bowl totals. Anything less than that and we’ll be looking for another coach for 2026.

I think hiring Dana changed what would have been a D to a C+/B-
I can certainly understand this but if we’re evaluating the entirety of the season then he has to get equal if not more blame for having to change his OC 9 games into his second season because its such a catastrophic disaster that the program savior is gonna leave unless something happens

I agree with everything but the last line, unless it’s a 2-3 win season Rhule gets 4 years minimum

Gonna be honest I can't fathom anything above C+
6-6 with this roster is an embarrassment, and to @Seaofred92 point it's 1.5 games under preseason win total. Merely reaching your preseason win total should get you a C+ or so, since that's "average". Keep in mind it's actually possible to go over a preseason win total, and half the teams out there each year do. It's beyond me how we can lose a full game and a half more than expected but be graded a full letter grade above "average"

Gave him a B- because of Holgorsen. I’m also including getting a 5 star qb in the door as part of the second season.

Even though tonight was incredibly frustrating, we got to 6 regular season wins for the first time since year 2 of Riley and only the second time since Bo, so given the state of the program and the fact that we now have 9 conference games in a better conference without a shitty division, 6 wins has to warrant at least a C on its own.

But it’s only a C because of how badly every other season has gone, and it shouldn’t be in the future.

Nebraska could get slotted to play LSU or Ole Miss in a bowl game which could be great.
If the past couple of bowl seasons are any indication — both teams are going to get drilled with bowl game opt outs.

I went with a D+.

Matt Rhule hired a guy to coach his offense whose average finish in total offense was 97th in the nation.

Matt Rhule had Dana Holgerson on campus ready to take the OC job if a clean OC title was offered to him.

Matt Rhule eventually made the call to get rid of Satterfield. But it cost us this season that could have easily been a 9 win season if Holgerson was here in January.

Matt Rhule does get credit for making the move. But I still can’t ignore the idea that his decision cost us and that’s why I’ve got to give the grade I’ve given.

With what we’ve got on this roster this team had zero excuses to not win 8 games. It is Rhule’s decision to bring Satterfield here for why we haven’t won more than we have to this point in his tenure.

Now, I’m still excited for what’s to come with Holgerson here now. But this year wasn’t good enough.
