Sign Up Now!I can certainly understand this but if we’re evaluating the entirety of the season then he has to get equal if not more blame for having to change his OC 9 games into his second season because its such a catastrophic disaster that the program savior is gonna leave unless something happensI think hiring Dana changed what would have been a D to a C+/B-
I agree with everything but the last line, unless it’s a 2-3 win season Rhule gets 4 years minimumI voted C-. I venture to guess some people will be a tad more fired up tonight post Cockeye loss and rank us in the D+ through D- range and I could be open to changing my vote into that range.
Preseason win total was 7.5 - we finish with 6 wins to miss this by 1.5 games. By that metric alone you can say we underperformed
But for a guy that routinely talks about how all he know is just to go back and fix the things that are causing us issues - we haven’t really done any of that. The most glaring issue of all being special teams but also the offensive output was atrocious. Not to mention the specifics like Kick Return game, all the kicks we had blocked, the acceptance of the lack of WR blocking, over loyalty to Satt and Foley, and on and on and on.
The reality is college football has changed since Matt Rhule was at Baylor. This is also the hardest collegiate conference he’s ever played in. I do think he has potential to be a great CEO like coach for us but he needs to be much less loyal to how he did things at prior stops and observe the broader CFB landscape to figure out how to blend his past into the future of CFB.
The roster was going to turnover pretty heavily regardless because of the new 105 rule in place, but I would bet we’ll see even more turnover than expected. We HAVE to bring in some difference makers at the skill positions and people that aren’t afraid to return punts and kicks. It’s truly baffling how time and time again we find ourselves in this situation and its because we just are one guy short or one guy making a play away from being in a much better spot.
This is a critical, critical offseason. We need to jump to 8-9 wins next year for me to feel good about the direction of the program, and those are pre-bowl totals. Anything less than that and we’ll be looking for another coach for 2026.
Not this year. If things aren’t better after next year then all bets are offIs there any talk of Dylan leaving? This kid sounds like he does not want to be here
He will be here next yearIs there any talk of Dylan leaving? This kid sounds like he does not want to be here
Exactly this. The Dana move was a baller move that no other Husker coach would have ever done. It may be his job saver down the road. Couple that with a bowl game and I'll go with C+.I think hiring Dana changed what would have been a D to a C+/B-
