Golf Thread

Thanks for sharing - he is the man! He is the speaker at an Alzheimer's fundraiser dinner here in Dallas about every other year and is incredible every time.
I've heard him speak several times and I almost never hear him tell the same story twice.

Couple favorites - Early in his career after he had had some success, he was out mowing his lawn in Dallas. A neighbor he didn't know and she clearly didn't know him mistook him for a lawncare worker and asked how much he charged for lawn service. He just replied with "well the lady in this house lets me have sex with her."

Another from when he was young. Said his grandpa loved to go drinking and dancing at the bars on Henderson Ave in Dallas. Said every month he (Lee) would go bar to bar and pay off his grandpa's tabs.

Any aware of this project or able to speak to it? Seems like a good location for another golf course, especially because I presume the price was right.

Have talked to a couple of buddies about it, both work in the golf business. Said the owners of the Tanner's franchises are behind it. Hear they are gonna have trouble routing an 18-hole golf course that's over 6,000 yards, but don't know if that's valid or not.

Your buddies are correct. I never played the original, but friends that grew up in Elkhorn said it was very tight back then - and will be even more so going forward. There are a couple of ridiculous doglegs around houses on the revamped layout. No driving range. $25k down stroke. Monthly dues are pretty steep too. Clubhouse does look great though.

About a hop skip and a jump from my in laws.

One of my good buddies parents live on one of the old tee boxes

SIAP but considering getting fitted for clubs. Looking for advice and thoughts - is it worth it? Where would you recommend going? Things I should look for that I’m actually getting fit correctly or just getting sold on something? Any insight would be great.

There is such a wide discrepancy in the quality of fittings across the industry. It’s tough to know what you’re getting if you don’t have a lot of experience with launch monitor numbers.

I did a full bag fitting a few years back at Club Champion and it made a big difference for me.

Been golfing since I was in high school and am in mid 30’s now. Worked on a golf course through high school and college and golfed quite a bit back in the day but now with a wife and kids I’m lucky to golf half a dozen times. My clubs are real dated though and were second hand so never did have a full set that matched the ability. At my best I was around 10-12 handicap. Now probably closer to 15-18.

Fittings are good. Don't have to buy new to get a fitting either. Buying through Callaway preowned is a great money saver sometimes.

Only rec I can give other than Golf USA or Austad's. Never felt pressured to buy a certain brand or line.

Good luck.
