Part of the article:

The lawsuit also alleges that the athletic association was negligent in allowing LeCroy to drive the SUV during her duties. Bowles' lawyers contend that athletic officials were aware that "LeCroy had at least four speeding tickets, which included two 'super speeder' violations under Georgia law." The lawsuit claims LeCroy's supervisor was in the car when she received her most recent super speeder ticket on Oct. 30 while driving home from the Georgia-Florida game in Jacksonville, Florida.

The lawsuit said LeCroy's SUV was traveling at least 104.2 mph when it crashed and had been racing another SUV driven by Carter for 45 seconds or less. Police said LeCroy's blood alcohol concentration was .197, nearly 2½ times the legal limit in Georgia.

This must have been what the 90's were like here. From the Complaint:

Bryant Gantt (“Gantt”), UGA’s liaison between the UGA football program, law enforcement,
and the court system – who was paid $209,914.61 in 2022 for job duties that directly involved
getting players out of legal trouble - subsequently attempted, in person, to get a county court clerk to
reduce LeCroy’s super speeder charge in November of 2022. Between 2016 and 2023 Gantt was
personally involved in at least 82 separate legal matters involving players. (The UGA Athletic
Association issued a public statement that Gantt’s involvement in the LeCroy ticket “was purely in
his personal capacity as a favor to a friend” in an attempt to distance itself from his actions).

Not sure that's the same thing.
I think you're right, but they're still enabling a dangerous culture there and essentially 'sweeping' things under the rug.

How on Earth does that LeCroy chick still have her license after FOUR speeding tickets, two aggravated. The Complaint states that she also received a speeding ticket in back-to-back weeks. Pretty reckless, if you ask me, to not suspend her license, first and foremost... AND TO ALLOW HER TO CONTINUE DRIVING RECRUITS AND FAMILIES AROUND.

She's not even a player. I can't imagine what sort of leniency players receive.

AJC is a piece of shit paper. Research what they did to the hero that saved lives during the 96' Olympic bombing in Atlanta. Anyway, here is UGA's demand for retraction from the AJC if interested. Alan Judd who is the investigative journalist who wrote the articles. Speeding is an issue. The reporting however is vindictive and misleading at best on sexual assault and some of the other speeding issues.

Agreed, their recent hit piece was pathetic and really amounts to nothing more than fake news. Too many media outlets want to create a narrative instead of reporting actual facts.

Trying real hard here to back UGA here now that we are brothers.

Richard Jewell went through hell for trying to help so F them if they did him dirty. This one seems more cut and dry though.

I see people like her driving around erratically daily. It’s absolutely amazing. Big hurry to get nowhere. No brains

We talking about speeding or what? I wish the kids would stop speeding. Not gonna happen I think though as we're talking about 17-24 yr. olds. Other Ga news outlets have covered such plus the accident and lawsuits, but without taking stuff out of context and in some cases just plain fabricating details such as UGA's "fixer". Anything coming from AJC at this point can't be taken at face value. I'm not defending players being stupid and speeding. Just saying f the AJC's reporting.

I realize it’s probably getting a lot of clicks, but is it a Tech grad writing all of this? They seem to have UGA and Kirby in their crosshairs right now.

The recent article about still signing the defensive line commit after all the events that occurred during his visit was maybe worse, but I never heard the opposing side on that story

Yeah, we wish the kids could keep there heavy ass foot off of the gas but the AJC is out for blood and it's ridiculous. A whole lot of what the AJC has put out over the last 6 months on UGA has either been fabricated or just straight up lies.

Just the speeding and the opportunity to post a favorite gif of mine.

I hadn't heard the other story on the D-Line commit. Sounds like the paper is on high alert.

Smart could crack down on the speeding tomorrow, but it would require him actually punishing people.
