I saw an article this morning about Turd wanting ALL former players to feel connected regardless of coach or era.

Made me think…seems a year or so ago frost had a couple big names “hanging around practice” to help and motivate. It’s been radio silent regarding those guys for a long while now. What happened with that? Might be a question for @kenyanfeline @Faux Sean Callahan and whoever else has inside access

Yeah so last year they had Peters and a LB from the 90's (whose name escapes me right now) around the team with those specific groups. I have no clue what they are doing with this moving forward, but I do know they have done this (or similar) in the past. I know former players have worked with current players more than I initially thought. Maybe not like going through drills and shit like that, but more as a mentor type role.

I know Turd and co want to utilize the husker network. Damon was talking about this and he rattled off I bet 10 some guys who are former players who run training facilities/coach. You think each one of them trains how many kids? Some being the top in their area.

Jay Foreman and Jason Peters were at every practice last spring and last fall (2021). They always stood off to the side of practice, but were involved some, sometime none and just stood around and talked. Due to the NCAA these guys couldn't be directly hands-on with the players and do any sort of coaching, instruction, or motivating. Not saying they ever do it off to the side, but it wasn't like it was made out to be.

Often times fans think that practices are 100% full game speed with heavy hitting and players who are highly motivated. It's not, most of the time it resembles the first half of the spring game of 2 hand touch (they call it tagging off), and sometimes less than that. There isn't much if at all contact outside of the OL and DL. There is a lot of standing or sitting around. This isn't limited to just Nebraska, but it's all college football.

I think Turd, and some others, realize there are a lot of guys who were on the Callahan and Riley teams that are now tied to good highschool players either family, coaching, etc, and it’s always seemed like those players were treated differently than guys from the Osborne and Solich years, or even Pelini guys to some degree.

People on tPB talking about toe-ing the line when it comes to paying players

In my opinion this is a line they need to toe as well. Old players can be an asset or detriment to a current team. Especially ones that think they need to run to social media with every opinion they have.

Nebraska and Miami, tow darlings from 30 years ago both seem to have this problem
