Breaking Fitzgerald out at NW

@Faux Sean Callahan He might have been the whistleblower, but per their president "During the investigation, eleven current or former football student-athletes acknowledged that hazing has been ongoing within the football program. In new media reporting today, still more former Northwestern football student-athletes confirmed that hazing was systemic dating back many years. This has never been about one former student-athlete and his motives; this is much bigger than that."

Even if it's true that the whistleblower had an axe to grind or exaggerated or whatever Fitz's fanboys are claiming, the uni has a lot more reports to go by than just the word of that one player. The supposed motives of any individual player are more or less irrelevant at this point.

Joe didn't know either

I would like to see the report the Northwestern received. There's a huge difference for me between Fitz not knowing hazing was occuring and Fitz actively knowing it was occuring or ignoring evidence it was occuring.

I don't believe a single word of the story
I find it interesting that many of the posters on here, @iruletheskool may or may not be one of them, bemoan the fact that Nebraska media didn't report on all the bullshit Frost was or wasn't fucking up behind the scenes.

Fast forward to what's happening at Northwestern, where players came forward and said there was some shady stuff going on, the media reported on it, and the reaction of many here is, "I don't believe it. It's just a bunch of jealous journalism nerds trying to take down sports ball!"

I have no reason to believe your response would have been different had the Nebraska media reported on Frost. If they don't report, you all cry, "The media never does their job!" if they do, you cry that they're making shit up as part of some personal vendetta against the jocks.

FTR I was on here telling Garret that I didnt believe the Frost stories too

Also my view on this story has nothing to do with journalism nerds. Its just not believable to me that a coach was making players dry hump each other for 15 years on a team of 150 and nobody ever said anything

That's easy to believe. Stuff like that happens all the time. Who is going to rat out the coach and the other players? Staying on the team would be intolerable. Who wants to admit a bunch of guys were dry humping him? If you're a freshmen, maybe you think that if it's happening everyone already knows and looks the other way? Wouldn't you also be afraid no one would believe you?

The fact no one come forward sooner is the easiest thing to believe about this story.

To piggyback on Carm's point, no one is alleging that Fitz made them do it, it's simply that he knew it was going on and turned a blind eye. As the CEO of the team, you can't do that. I can easily picture a scenario where he shrugs it off as "if this is how my team leaders want to enforce discipline, I'm not going to get in the way." He may even have known there was "hazing" going on, but didn't want to know the details of said hazing as to maintain some level of plausible deniability. Which, again, shows poor leadership.
