Breaking Fitzgerald out at NW

Myself, I wouldn't have done it, but probably would have just blended in with the group or just quietly walked away lol I wasn't one to throw punches 15 years ago. My select baseball HC, 9-14, would honestly not be able to coach in today's world. He was hard on us and had some tension with other teams and organizations, but he was fantastic and we still have beers with him from time to time 15-20 years later.

For me this would have been mid 80's, so over 30 years ago. Small town Nebraska high school, not a lot of students. I was a late bloomer but always fast, quick and tough. Did not take shit, but also did not start shit. Never started a fight, but had defended myself against bigger/older kids enough to where other kids knew not to mess with me. There weren't enough of us freshman to blend in or escape, and the seniors made sure there was no avenue to escape. But I was literally ready to throw down as it was bullshit what they were trying to do to us.

The asshole head football coach we had back then was also assistant basketball coach and head track coach. He was actually a really good track coach. Our school had never had pole vault before my frosh year, but this guy convinced the school to buy pole vaulting equipment and build a runway and pit plus of course the mats, etc. My class was the first class to start pole vaulting, and this coach studied up on how to train us. We often took first, second and third at track meets in pole vault. I went to state in pole vault twice. So the guy could be a good coach, he just had an asshole streak in him. There were rumblings he was abusive to his wife, and I know years later after I was in my 20's, I believe his wife left him over this kind of stuff. The guy had a temper. But could also be a good coach. Not really a good football or basketball coach, but he was a really good track coach.

The far right is literally just as crazy as the far left and both ruin anything that’s good. This quote is a perfect example of it lol
Both crazy but far left libs are pedophiles so they’re much worse

Season 3 Thank You GIF by Good Trouble

Haha I'm dumb and for a minute thought we were gonna have an election on the board. I'm thinking, "damn, we really gonna kick big tone out on a vote?!"
We should. We can create our own political parties and have a mock election

Our freshman year baseball coach, was also the freshman football coach. Very much a football coach, he knew a little baseball but I’m sure he got paid a little extra to coach baseball. This day in particular was probably the greatest “discipline” day I’ve ever been apart of, but also the day we all knew he wasn’t a legit baseball coach.

Basically the goal was, on a Saturday, to make something like 100 successful throws in that 4 corner drill. After a long Saturday morning practice, execute that and we’re going home for the weekend. Easy enough. Nope.

There were probably 4-5 guys at each corner of the drill, think it was each corner of the basketball gym, but like 10 steps in maybe. Punishment was suicides to some extent. I’m sure I’m remembering it a little off, but we missed enough throws to where we essentially did between an hour and 2 hours of extra suicide conditioning. Obviously those throws become harder the more tired you get from running, your motion becomes stiff from trying too hard, you get chirpy with team mates cause you’re sick of running. That was horrible for sport specific baseball, but fantastic for discipline and being “perfect” and executing when you’re exhausted in sports. If I remember right, we were pretty bad before that practice, but played pretty well the rest of the season after. I’m sure bonding through adversity and mental toughness played a role in that
