Finally got to rewatch the game

Too bad we didn’t land this guy

Angry Mark Cuban GIF

I start looking back and he got a 4 star every year. At one point our freshmen RBs were Abdullah (3 star), Aaron Green (5 star), and Braylon Heard (4 star) with our 3 star being the best out of all of them, and by the way our starter was Burkhead. Now all of a sudden we are getting Johnson and that's about it.
Don't forget EJ was the last Ron Brown RB recruit at NU.....

Going out on a limb and saying that was our 4th (maybe 5th) toughest game on our schedule this year behind Penn state, USC and Michigan.
This is coping.

They're the 7th or 8th best team on the schedule. They're a middle of the pack big 12 team. That doesn't mean we'll lose 7 games but that team is not good. Not bad but certainly not good.

the fact that as the game went on the other RBs basically disappeared tells me the coaches didn't trust them in a close game.
I agree, not a good sign. And most likely a pass blocking issue, but the RB rotation probably deserves a question at tomorrows PC. Holgo said we’d see all three early and often. We need some clarity on why the reps were what they were and if they see EJ being a 25-30+ touch guy per game.

Do you really think the Nebraska media will ask such questions? Ha ha there isn't a more ball less and scared bunch in the state.

Damon Benning seemed pretty meh on EJ’s performance. Sounds like he left a lot of yards out there.
He did. As stated above, there were several times he missed a cut to the outside and dove back inside. Difference between some of his 6-8 yard runs and likely 20+ yard runs.

I would like to see the backups get more than 2 carries before drawing any firm conclusions.
I'll agree here... and they are going to look great these next two weeks to which people will say "I told you our depth is better". But as I said before the season, we had a ton of P5 carries heading into 2024, we only have EJ and about 10 carries behind him. We are thin and inexperienced. Shocked we worked more in the portal for other positions but not RB.

We need more 1-5 play drives and less 12-16 play drives.
This x100

I love long methodical drives as much as the next guy. Helps the defense a lot, and situationally it’s great to burn some clock. But if we can reduce some of the wear and tear on the skill guys that will absolutely pay dividends. Especially against a team like Cincy where every player is taught to ballistic missile straight into the ball carrier’s knees.
