It's how people cope with losing one of our few playmaking skill players.

Think if you go back just a few weeks in the WiscyDicks game thread and said "hey guys, EJ will enter the portal soon. How do you feel?"

Absolutely no one would have said "no big deal, we'll find a replacement!"
Exactly. People pretty much always assume the new guy will be an upgrade.

Everyone thought Dowdell would be an instant upgrade over everyone in the room but he clearly wasn't.

When I heard we had to cut a bunch of players I naively assumed it was going to be mostly our walk-ons and third stringers, not mostly our starters

Idk why you think the sky is falling because Nebraska lost a good, not great running back
I don't think anyone is saying the sky is falling, but clearly finding "good, not great running backs" is not as easy as some like to make it sound since EJ is probably our best back in the past 5+ years.

Dowdell has physical tools, but definitely lacks vision (guy misses holes a lot) and I have no idea whether or not that's teachable.

I know this. No matter who we get in the portal, we would be better with EJ on the team. He is probably what...the 3rd or 4th best offensive weapon we have?

Week 2 or 3. I don't get the hype on the board. Who does he compare to?
i think he has a speed size hands combination we havent seen from a DONU back in years. he is the real deal. its too bad he was injured this year. he is high school jeanty

Felt like DD’s positive this year him just running through the hole, but his downfall was his inability to make a singular tackler miss.
Man go back and watch, he misses holes constantly. He doesn't read the line very well, he just runs straight where he intended to go. If the hole is there, he's great and I love how hard he runs. But there's so many times where the hole was just one step either left or right and he misses it.
