Part of the issue is that after the issues the staff had with the '18 and '19 classes there was a subtle shift away from recruiting the twitchy sort of guys with high ceilings toward bigger guys and culture guys across the board. Now we've got a roster full of oafs that can barely move and a depth chart full of five star heart and 'culture'. I guess what I'm trying to say is that Duval didn't have the same class of athlete to work with that OUs dude did.
yes.

I don't know if Duval is bad at his job or not.

I do know that every fanbase thinks the s&c needs to change when the season is going bad.

ie Phillip, ie the guy from Pelini's era that ended up at Vandy, and now Duval.

Duval, the bootleg Chuck Zito. I’ve been bagging on his S&C program for years. Only to have the taters of The Republic of Mongo run me off.
He must have skipped Boyd’s classes on explosiveness 101.

Is that you in your profile pic?

Yeah, looking at what the gameplan has been, I don't understand the Whipple move at all. We didn't have to reinvent the world this year. If we could just run fucking IZ constantly over the last 2-3 years our offense is fine.
The Whipple hire was good bc it took the play calls out of Frost’s hands. Anything that could help accomplish that was an upgrade.

I would still rather have a sprint-focused S&C program. We should be at the leading edge on all things S&C
I know an ex HS coach that put many many athletes into D1 ball and several through UNL in their glory days. He’ll tell you today that the number 1 thing he’d do in conditioning was box jumps. And it was a grueling circuit (likely 25 pukes worth) but it was elite in his players overall conditioning. Maybe more so “skill players”, I have no idea if that was for all but it was a major focus.
