I wonder if Dannen has an extension with perks in mind, but wants to maybe wait just 8-9 more days. Or maybe even one or two more days. Extending Rhule when he is at 6-1, or even 7-1 versus a knee jerk extension when Rhule is tied with his mid season 2024 record prior to the slump would go down easier as far as being earned. Maybe he feels that 7-1 is a point where he has some leverage with donors to pump up the NIL funds after he points out we're off to the best start we've had since 2016.

While the clock is definitely ticking, Dannen at least has the gift of having updated results to factor into the decision in less than 12 hours. 6-1 and guaranteed bowl bound by a smidge after midseason feels a lot more sellable than 5-1 with no guarantee we don't repeat our 2024 midseason nose dive.

Other people have said the same and I still disagree. DeBoer got out at Washington cause he knew moving to the big ten made that a bad job. I think he also knows he will never satisfy Alabama folk and they are 1-3 more losses this year away from wanting him run out. Midwest routes.
