He’s gone if he’s offered. Matt seemed nervous and even kinda chippy talking about the issue.

Old school boosters that believe in the “Nebraska way” and don’t wana give the money it takes, then we will never be where the fanbase wants as a blue blood. And will lose coaches to programs that will and become a stepping stone program.

I think he's sort of conflicted but yeah I think he spelled out exactly what it would take to keep him here....sadly I don't think it will happen.

This is the part though that gave me some hope he stays here. He's well aware of the difference in the expectations and the nature of the fan bases. We can be small minded and petty but the level of vicious hate Franklin and his family has gotten has to give him pause about taking that job.

After listening to that presser, I am less concerned than I was reading the comments in here.

If I’m coaching at ANY university but Nebraska, and the Nebraska job came open, there’s no way I’d not address it. It would be my dream job. Maybe I love the school I’m at (which is stated two or three different ways) and I have no intention of leaving, but I’d be full of it to not say the Nebraska job wasn’t intriguing.

After watching his answer yeah I think he'd leave if offered which would suck, but if he did I think we have a lot more to offer a potential new coach than we did a few years ago. Hopefully we could make a big enough hire to keep most of our pieces in place for next season.

I don't know what you guys were expecting to hear in this presser... As a KU fan, I sat there and listened to Roy Williams wax on and on about how UNC was his Alma Matter, but he was committed to KU and he was committed to the players on his roster and the ones that he was committed to. He talked at length about how Dean Smith was a KU alum and had the opportunity to leave UNC to come coach KU and stayed because he wanted to continue what he had built at UNC. A few weeks later, he up and left for UNC, after personally telling his players and recruits he wasn't.

Who knows what Matt Rhule is going to do. Me personally, I think that he's more of a Dean Smith than a Roy Williams, but just because he didn't wax poetically over NU and put all of the rumors to rest doesn't mean anything.

As of October 13, 2025, Matt Rhule's potential move from Nebraska to Penn State remains speculative, with no concrete indication that he will leave.

Rhule, a Penn State alumnus and former assistant coach, has been linked to the Nittany Lions' head coaching vacancy following James Franklin's dismissal after a three-game losing streak. Despite this, Rhule has publicly expressed his commitment to Nebraska. In a recent press conference, he stated, "I'm really happy here," emphasizing his desire to continue building Nebraska into a competitive program KETV.

While Rhule's ties to Penn State and his professional relationship with Penn State Athletic Director Pat Kraft, who previously served as AD at Temple during Rhule's tenure, make him a logical candidate, Rhule's current focus appears to be on his responsibilities at Nebraska https://www.1011now.com.

Given the available information, it's challenging to assign a precise percentage to the likelihood of Rhule accepting the Penn State job. However, based on his recent statements and current commitments, the probability appears low at this time.

The worst part is, I doubt Kraft knows what he’s going to do for sure let alone Rhule knowing what he is going to do. I’m sure there’s been feelers put out to Rhules agent but at this point I’m betting that’s as far as it’s gone because like I’ve said I can’t think he’s in their top 3 maybe top 5 candidates.

Honestly think if he ends up their coach its because PSU struck out on bigger names, and Nebraska failed to pony up resources he asks for. I just dont see any way they pay Franklin a gigantic buyout for Matt to be the main target, unless Kraft has that entire department sold on him already.

Part of me thinks that Rhule has already verbally committed to Penn state and it will be announced the day our season ends.

Hopefully not what happens but if it does, I hope the donors are ready to open their checkbooks and get Deboer or Kiffin.
