Recruiting gurus miss a lot on highly rated qbs.
Raiola is just the next example of it
We’ve done it to ourselves. We’re in such dire straits that we have to rely on an 18 y/o true freshman to play at an all-B1G level every week to win.

The good thing about getting Holgerson is that there will be no excuses regarding Raiola. He will either be able to be developed into a good qb or Holgerson will bring in someone better. There won’t be any excuses how the coaching ruined him.
BIG coaches also got some film on him and they exposing his weaknesses. Hopefully Holgerson can coach him up, and he he gets better. It wouldn’t be the first time a 5 star qb was a flop if he doesn’t get better. If that’s the case and Rhule stays out of the offense I’m sure Holgerson will find us a competent qb. I just think it’s funny how everyone believes Raiola has to be the savior. If he is great. If he isn’t move on and find someone better.
All this stuff is completely intentional. I can’t be convinced otherwise. It’s beyond a fluke at this point. Our conference is blatantly at war with us with no signs of a ceasefire.
But why is he worse now? Could it be bad coaching? Does he have ALS?
If I’m thinking of the same time you are that ICG let the ball roll to the one, that was with <30 seconds in the half. We were just going for the block. He was for sure told not to field the punt because the only thing that could go wrong is him dropping the ball and giving them points before half.
I’m as pissed as anyone on the missed throw to Banks as I think that one would have won us the game.
But I’m not going to harp too much on a true freshman QB in game one of a brand new OC that’s calling plays.
If you’d like to be mad at anyone, point your finger right at Matt Rhule. He had Holgerson ON FUCKING CAMPUS in January willing to take the job he has now and Rhule didn’t make the move. After watching some of the offense function yesterday there’s no doubt in my mind with a full winter, spring, and summer with Holgerson here this team would be 8-2.
The guy at the top of the offense did every one of these kids a huge disservice. I’m glad that this issue got corrected. Much later than I’d have liked to have seen it corrected.
I think it has a lot to do with coaches watching his film and taking away his strengths. Ever since the bad Rutgers game his confidence went to shit. He hasn’t been the same after that int. Atleast by hiring Holgerson there will be no coaching excuses. We will get an answer if Raiola is the man or a flop.

You know it’s kind of amazing how coming into this year even I had the mindset of, even if Raiola is a flop 5 star he’s got to be better than what we had with Sims/HH/Purdy last year right? After watching Frost with Martinez it should be very clear to most people how critical coaching is in determining whether a player gets better or flops. Hopefully Holgerson can turn him around and fix what Satt fucked up.
His fucking offensive coordinator told the defenses the plays before the snap basically like that scene in the movie Radio. When the other team knows exactly what you’re running based on Benhart being up or in a 3 point and can basically pinpoint which concept you’re running based on WR splits it becomes almost impossible for a true freshman to succeed.
If high school coaches can figure Satterfield out what do you think opposing defenses can do?
If you wanna be mad that Raiola hasn’t looked the way you want him to you need to point your finger at Matt Rhule for employing Satterfield. The worst P5 offensive coordinator in the business. Brian Ferentz would have been a better hire than him.
Ron Brown needs to get the boot as much as Foley.
