They have reduced the delay over time; I think it is 24 hours now.

People have a month to hit the portal in this window.

You don't offer a guy December 4 and set up an OV for the weekend before signing day if you won't take him. And they wanted Ruggeroli and ran out of space. They wanted Riley and they ran out of space. If an unexpected space opened it strikes me as more likely they would just have kept one of those OVs. I think they must want this guy more. That being said, what you suggest is clearly possible. I just think it is less likely. Especially because this isn't an offer at a big position of need.

If this is because someone unexpected is transferring, I would think that means one of the good young freshmen DL is a surprise portal.
I don't think we need to worry about the good young guys who played and performed well since White and probably Knighton are staying.

One or all three of Rollins, Wallen and Tagaloa leaving is what I was thinking.

We can afford to replace any of them with a HS recruit since it's not an area of immediate need.

That wouldn't be a surprise, at least Rollins and Tagaloa. I was figuring all along that Rollins and Tagaloa had to go to make the numbers.

They like Wallin. He played in 4 games and then they saved his RS.

To get to 85 some of the guys who go will have to be guys a number of people will say we should keep. There aren't enough "easy" picks to get there.

that's the impression I got too.

I'd be surprised if Tagaloa leaves unless he's a medical retiree.

Rhule really talked him up during the offseason.

Mawaad Watson is coming for an OV. (Or is it Maraad or Masaad? I have seen it all 3 ways)

All I can say is we must really like him. We had shut down recruiting for this class already and were working the portal for the remaining spots on the 85. This is a spot they could have used on a portal transfer.

FRom 247 national:

This fall was Watson's first at Irvington after he played at Montclair (N.J.) Immaculate Conception the year before, and he immediately impressed Blue Knights coach Ashley Pierre.

"Biggest sleeper in New Jersey," Pierre said. "He puts everything on film and gives 100 percent every single play. Extremely dominant force for us defensively and a great kid."

Pierre said his mix of character off the field and ability on the field caught his attention early.

"Extremely humble kid with next level work ethic," Pierre said. "Maraad plays with violent hands, has short areas quickness and has a violent side that he carries onto the turf every time he steps on the field."
I like that his coach used the word violent twice in the same sentence.

We're losing Blaise.

Tagaloa doesn't have a RS to burn but would seemingly be granted a medical waiver if he returned.

Williams, as I understand it, would be eligible to get on an NIL package if he isn't already.

The likely departures come from the "contributor" and "remaining" lists. We can eliminate Nash & Ty and I'm assuming the young guys who played but redshirted. I'd be really surprised if Cam, Prince or VP leave but that could be wishful thinking.

Who're you thinking? Honestly, this kid looks like a Jeudy/Buckley/Tagaloa replacement.
