Excuse Me Wow GIF by Mashable

Yes brother

G&P has most of them tagged and can track them all over the state. A few years back one was shot up here and it actually came from Washington state. They just travel that far.

Wouldn’t surprise me if G&P has a tracker on the one that was sighted this morning

Secret: Almost all of them are tagged and Game and Parks lies about it because they think they are the most important law enforcement.

Out here ranchers will shoot them and then go throw the body on the train tracks. Body is dragged 1/2 way to Denver before it busts apart.

No way to know if the cat just got hit by a train or if it was shot.

…and as a prosecutor I can tell you that you ain’t gonna find anybody to file charges from any G&P referral on that (after 6 refusals they stopped sending me them)

It's a go to ANYTIME there's dangerous game that needs reminding about MAN'S place on the food chain. Cats aren't particularly "hardened" targets, so any modern firearm ought to get 'er done if it's threatening someone. But regardless of what you use, if you shoot a mountain lion there's going to be a shit ton of paperwork.

In all seriousness, we have a decent tree line behind our house separating our development from the billionaire behind us. We're only a few blocks from the Papio Creek, which is a proven tributary that the big cats use to navigate, and this tree line is essentially an extension of that creek system. I have a trail / game cam posted up in the tree line, and one of these days I'm fully expecting to see a big cat on that cam. We've got everything else: coyote, fox, deer, opossum, raccoons, rabbits, squirrels, turkey, etc., much of which would serve as a food source for the big cat.

I'll definitely post the pic if it ever happens.

Wondering if I'd get a bite.

There are some state Game and Parks that REALLY struggle to admit that some locations have bears, mountain lions and other predators even when something is caught on camera, or multiple eye witnesses

i.e. - we don't have a body, so they don't exist around these parts....or in this part of whatever state.

Nebraska seems to have more integrity than that.

I'd say if you see (with your own eyes) or capture a mountain lion on camera, you know what it is. Not that hard IMO.

I’ve never understood it. The same game and parks people pull the same shit over a handful of topics and it’s weird as hell.

At least mountain lions are about as close to harmless to people as it gets. Sure suck for ranchers, pets and mule deer hunters though - they eat a lot.

Honestly wasn't sure what type of responses my post would receive. Other people obviously see and hear about Game and Park behaviors, but figured I'd get laughed out of the thread.

I know I’m not the only one that has sent a picture or tell them that something exists, usually invasive species related and the response is, “Nah, that’s not possible. Thanks for letting us know though”..

I was in an argument about walleye recruitment taking place at a body of water they said wasn’t possible. I sent a picture of a 8” walleye at a lake they hadn’t been stocked for nearly a decade and was told, “Sorry, that can’t be the case - we have no walleye stocking on record there”.
