Yes I sure hope so, this is what I’m saying and debating in support of. Maybe I’m way off and $300k for a qb of that talent level is high and we can convince a guy like that to just come and get a free education from a B1G school with a little spending money thrown in. I’ve no idea what/if we were paying Gramstad for example?
Gramstad is an apprentice coach basically. I would expect us to do something similar - a bright experienced guy who wants to get into coaching.

I woke up this morning after having a vision as clear as day.

Are there problems with Colandrea? Fucking DUH. But he is exactly what we need. An absolute GAMER that makes shit happen. No "he had a great week of prep" only to watch him throw for 120 yards 1 td and 1 pick but he "had us in the right stuff all day".

I would be more confident with this kid if he didn't even find out who we play until Friday night, he shotguns a beer, shrugs his shoulders and says "Fuck the Ducks" then disappears into the night and shows up 8 minutes before kickoff.

Yes, I can see it now. And Golly do we need it.

Do they really call him the whoopsy daisy king

My gawd, I hope so. That's the best nickname for an unpredictable QB ever.
Tom Fornelli has a whoops-a-daisy qb rating that he does every year and Colandrea was the like the highest rating ever when he was at Virginia. So Fornelli started calling him the "Whoops-a-daisy King"

Kid has that 'Swag' or as the kids would say...the sigma rizz.

Well, it's going to be staying with him while at NU. If any program can bring out the "whoopsie-daisy" in a player, it's DONU.

If the tea leaves are reading correctly, maybe Colandrea's backup will be Leavitt...Ol' Boy is being turned into the Prince of Leverage for schools. Kentucky got Minchey, apparently Williams to LSU, Tech took Sorsby instead. What if he effed up leaving ASU and there's reasons beyond play that people are snniffing out?

I would still take him!

We are going to find out what 2026 Dana is really made of, for better or worse.

This kid has 35 career turnovers. He should be a slot receiver as he's a great athlete, but I doubt he will be a good QB in the Big Ten.

2025 Colandrea had 9 INTs + 7 fumbles in 14 games = 1.14 per game

2025 Dylan had 6 INTs + 3 fumbles in 9 games = 1.0 per game

(You could argue that Dylan should be more like 8 games, with USC, HCU, and Akron being half games. That would put him at 1.125 per game.)

I think there is a widespread belief there was some issue

I'm sure we'll pick up an EBUQ (emergency back up quarterback, to revise a hockey term) out of the gazillion QBs in the portal. Eg, some guy with starting experience at the FCS or D2 level. It will be next to impossible to persuade a 3rd real QB there is a meaningful chance of PT here, I think.

We need another QB for depth, but I just don’t think you’re gonna convince anyone with aspirations to start that this is their best option. I mean, I guess you could potentially over pay someone to be Colandrea’s back-up. Tell him if he wins the job it’s his, but if doesn’t happen you’ll be one of the highest paid back ups 🤷‍♂️ Not sure how Colandrea would take that as well? Not sure what he can do one he’s signed and the paperwork is processed? Nothing seems impossible in today’s CFB.

Ultimately, I think bringing in a FCS guy who’s played well for market back up money. Then spend the extra cash on another player at a position of need. Spending more on someone to compete with Colandrea seems like a little more of a risky proposition. Potentially.

IMO there is absolutely nothing wrong with bringing in an FCS guy with some decent film. We need another body and we’ve still got Trae coming in in ’27, unless the wheels come completely off and the staff gets gassed.

If I were a FCS QB that had a good season with one or two yeas left, I would chase money to get a head start on life and be a backup at a P4 school. At a school like NU with only two scholarship QBs on the roster, it's a no-brainer for NU to pay a guy like this $400,000 or so.

Edit: First reported by @V-Doub

But I promise you Colandrea pushed the ball downfield more and obviously added a ton with that baller speed.

I'm not a Dylan hater, but this has me excited a bit. Going to be an 'edge of your seat' type player, but fun to watch.

Yeah, I thought that’s what I said?

Absolutely

This kid is high risk, high reward.

Knowing our luck…..well….let me just hold onto that for a few months.

Only lost 3 fumbles

Not a Dylan hater either, but most of the time he played like a high skilled game manager. Maybe that works for a team with a ton of talent, but outside of the end of the game at Maryland he never really did much to actually take a game over.

We need someone that’s going to make some plays and make things happen. Might be a few more bumps in the road along the way, but gives us a fighting chance at an upset or two next year.

Also a true QB run threat will just make everything easier for us.
