I had this same thought. That strategy worked GREAT at his previous stops because back then, there was not a free-reign transfer portal. That strategy only works if you can take your 6’4”, 230 lb track guy who sucks at football and spend 3-4 years developing him before expecting him to contribute.
I love it and I wish that’s how CFB still was, but with the transfer portal, it’s not gonna work. It’s also why he failed in the NFL.
Hopefully this is a sign of him coming to terms with that.

He also only threw three more interceptions than Raiola did last year. We’re getting the senior version of him, not the sophomore version.
And played more games doing it. Although the competition was less.
I'm skeptical too, but I immediately think it's better than LaQueef. I would like to bring in one more QB.
Yeah give me a dude who lit it up in a lower level as the 3rd Qb. I loved Chambliss this year & although I know it’s not very likely, maybe we get lucky and get our version of it.

So… God forbid AC goes down the 3rd game of the season you want to ride with TJ and Soukop for the rest of the year? With the knowledge that TJ is slight of build and would have missed time this last season from an injury had he not gotten a month to recover between games? You are willing to roll the dice on potentially having Soukop start a game in the above scenario so that we can redirect $300k to the lines?
I'm sure we'll pick up an EBUQ (emergency back up quarterback, to revise a hockey term) out of the gazillion QBs in the portal. Eg, some guy with starting experience at the FCS or D2 level. Braden Atkinson would be really nice and you have to be able to get him on the cheap. What do you make at Mercer? 50k? Go to him with half a milly and lock him up.
Yes I sure hope so, this is what I’m saying and debating in support of. Maybe I’m way off and $300k for a qb of that talent level is high and we can convince a guy like that to just come and get a free education from a B1G school with a little spending money thrown in. I’ve no idea what/if we were paying Gramstad for example?
