I'd be interested what Raiola's says.

It says “I’m Checking with Dom…”

I'm just more and more delighted the more I learn about this dude. Our QBs (and our program in general) have seemed so fucking perpetually timid for the past 10 years, and this guy is gonna bring some scrappiness and freewheeling energy to the table that we desperately need. He seems to operate like Joe Ganz but a better runner, or Tommy Armstrong but a better passer... If I knew this guy existed 2 days ago I would've easily preferred him over Minchey.
It means nothing now but I was more interested in him and JMUs QB than I was Minchey. We did the first time starter shit twice in two years and as much fun as it was, I'd rather just get a guy who has played lots of ball

I like this kid. He’s a cocky asshole. So unlike Raiola and so unlike anyone you would expect Rhule to embrace.

Rhule has always seemed so concerned about “setting everything up perfect” that he maybe loses sight of the fact that sometimes you just need to swing your dick out there and see what happens. You can see this in his propensity to take timeouts early in halves, and his general conservatism with roster management.

I think when the dust settled after the Raiola fallout, he had some of that post-nut clarity and doesn’t seem to be over-thinking the portal. We’re adding good football players, not projects, and we’re adding them fast.

Yeah - he’s def the type to get in a fight with his dad rather than do whatever daddy tells him.

100% agree.

I'm probably reaching with this one but I actually think the success of Emmet Johnson this year might have changed Rhule too. EJ of course the stud HS recruit but was too undersized so no big programs wanted him. Nebraska amazingly recruited him anyway.

I don't think Rhule probably saw much in EJ when he got here. Barthel had him at 4th string. They were gonna let him walk until Holgorsen said you gotta keep this kid. And he turned into an All-American.

Remember Rhule is also the guy obsessed with track times too (the measurables). Sometimes you have to just trust your eyes and pick the baller who can make plays, and worry less about the measurables.

I won't pop the cork on the champagne until we get a GOOD 3-5 portal DL and GOOD DL coach. All the other additions are great but we won't win shit in the Big Ten if we don't have at least a top 8 in the B1G DL. I am happy about the QB.
