Coach K’s final Duke home game today

Yeah. It's not even the dirty part that bugs me. It's the dirty and self righteous
The only basketball coach I can think of that is one of the greats that probably didn’t cheat was Bobby Knight and it showed later in his career when he couldn’t get top talent. I agree that the top recruits aren’t just coming to Duke to play for coach K. They were always getting some money.

Funny thing is, coach K is strait from the Bob Knight coaching tree.

I know their coaching styles are very similar, but coach K didn’t get a guy like Zion without cheating. Bob Knight even called out John Wooden for cheating.

I guess I wouldn’t say their coaching styles are similar. I’ve met both of them face to face and Knight tries to intimidate by fear. Coach K is way more calculated and focused. Not that his program is squeaky clean but I would be willing to bet that Duke was pretty high on Zion’s list anyway.

I’m talking about their man to man defense and motion offense even though Coach K moved to some zone later in his career. Their coaching philosophies are very similar in this regard. Also it’s been out there for a long time now Zion was paid. You don’t pull in top classes without paying players. You can call Knight a lot of things but he wasn’t a cheater. He also cared more than 99 percent of coaches about academics.

You are right about the man to man and then later zone. I don’t know as much about coach Knight as I do about coach K I guess. After reading coach K’s books and where he came from as a kid I’ve always thought he was a class act. Fair points though.
